Can anyone suggest a good spot to sail in Sydney in the southerly that's predicted for Boxing Day?

There are no flat water spots in S that I know. Botany Kyeemagh from the gas station or Ramsgate is bump and jump, George's river from the sailing club will be pretty choppy too, but safer being inshore conditions, it will be high tide so no speed strip. Dolls Point sometimes is better depending on the tide...there have been previous threads, you will find a lot more details if you search.

With run out tide in arvo ill be down at St george sailing club near taren point bridge if wind is strong as its much flatter than near the airport.

Airport better if wind is lighter.

If you reckon you've had enough flat water on LBG maybe Longreef if you're north side. I've never sailed there. I'd have thought you'd sail north of the reef? It looks like this is taken south of it?

Or if you're Sydney south side and looking to launch behind a bit of a protecting reef maybe Bulli is the closest? The first 400 metres heading east is somewhat like LBG, beyond that you're in the ocean. Which takes a bit of getting used to for a Canberran, but it's worth it.

Sydney harbour should be good in an hour or so. Park and launch from Nelson park.

What's the verdict Pete? It was SE most of the day for us at Callala Bay. Me a 5.3, 4.7 for Dezza and Akim went out on a 4.4 for a few runs as it was dying out. Hope you got out

Pretty good day to get a sail in and then still get to watch the fleet go by on way to tassie

We're staying in Manly so I decided to relive my youth (early 90's) and sail Narrabeen Lake. Got some great runs in the gusts, and man it was gusty. Just like home only warm salty water I think I'm going to have to toughen up and learn to sail in the ocean cause Long Reef looked awesome as I drove back

My thoughts exactly. Had a great session in a SE a couple of weeks ago out of little Manly but there are too many nutters on the harbour on Boxing Day.
