Hi NSW, Just crossed the boarder from Qld this arvo.
At the moment we're at Broken Heads for a couple of days enjoying a nice little surf.
Was intending to head off to Crescent Heads, for Wed & Thursday. But if the forecast's right the wind will be too strong for a good surf.
Does Iluka work in a SW? if not any suggestions?
BTW I don't have wave gear with me, only slalom.

If you head a bit further South, you could try South West Rocks. If you Launch from the old Gaol at Arakoon, the wind will be kind of cross on. In a south westerly the bay gets very flat and while it may be a bit gusty, you will have some awesome runs on your slalom gear. Once you get out into the open water the wind becomes more consistent, it will be sensational if the forecast is right!

It's also a really beatiful part of the NSW coast and quite historic as well. If you guys are camping then you can set up shop at at Arakoon (beneath the gaol) and carry your kit down to the beach.

If you want flat water perhaps head down to Queens Lake a bit south of Port Macquarie. You would catch up with a few of the Mid Coast Marauders. If you have a camper van or caravan you could camp by the lake shore for the night. Its very pretty and quiet there.

As Jon says, SW Rocks is a great spot. You should do yourself a favour and check it out if only to see a very pretty spot on the east coast.

I used to live close to Nambucca Heads. It may be possible to get a run in the river estuary there. However last time I was there it was pretty well chockas with sand so there may not be much of a run at all. However with the recent rain perhaps the sand has been washed out a bit.

I'm working from south to north so just flip those ideas around, Nambucca, South West Rocks and Queens Lake.

Won't make it to Sydney Wineman, we'll be heading west on Friday, we weren't thinking of going any further south than Pt Macquarie. Have to check the map to see if Queens Lake is possible.

If you head up to the New England soon there is a chance you will see snow.

We made it to Crescent, just before dark, (bloody road works). Looks a lot more protected here than I thought. Just might have a surf in the morning if it looks irresistable. Then to Queens Lake perhaps, I'll ring Mark in the morning.

Had a sail at Jordan's, with Mark and Greg, unfortunately I'd also had a surf at Crescent beforehand. The gusty conditions were a bit too much for my tired arms and shoulders, so I didn't last long.
Heading inland tomorrow, not sure if we'll get another sail before we get home.
