is Meerkat drive aka Foreshore Drive botany still accessible for us windsurfers? Or has construction taken up all the rigging / launching area's?

The last time I drove past, there were large areas fenced off and most of the scrubs have been removed......so it's quite safe now to bend over

You might be better off driving 5 more minutes and rig up at La Perouse. Due to the weather on Saturday, there will be no parking issues. Rig on the lawn and nice to launch from a sandy beach. You can sail over to Kurnell or alternatively, if you don't mind driving a little further, go to Kurnell and sail over there.

The whole bay is now blocked off. From the air there is a line of bouys at the end of the runway, and also along the beach.

BOM is forecasting SW for Sunday and not so much Westerly. Sandringham should be honking.... All depends on the tides now.

Sunday low tide is midday. Seabreeze has the wind as westerly at that time swinging SW later in the day - no more S/SW

There's still time for it to change though

Looking at the SB graphs the weekend seems to be basically west both days.
Is it possible to sail Sandringham like that Andrew??

A couple of us are looking at Canton on Saturday but you need a weed fin for up there.
Just as long as its windy then sweet

I've never seen Sandringham in a full on Westerly. I'm guessing the runs may be a little short as the houses at the south end of Captain Cook Bridge may interrupt the wind flow a bit. I may still mosey on down there anyway and if it's not working possibly cruise around to Kurnell.
SB's graphs are differing greatly from BOM's forecast. Closed waters tBOM say SW, offshore they say SSW. Either way, they reckon on 30-40 knots so considering how much they over compensate now I'm guessing it will be 20-25 at best.
Anyway, lots can happen between now and then.

You could be spot on with the 20-25 Andrew. Here's another point of view from the BOM. The weekend boating forecast says 20 knots all weekend:

Hi guys,

I was thinking of La Perouse over the weekend as it's considerably closer to home than Kurnell. Does anyone else sail there regularly? I realise most places (in NSW, to avoid the obvious "WA is good in westerlies" comment) are gusty in westerlies but is La Perouse any good? And how long a blast is it across to Kurnell from there should I decide to risk it?
On a slightly different note, did you beat your PB on Sunday Mike?

I'm heading to La Perouse around lunch time.

It takes less then 10min to cross the bay and it's good fun.

How did you get on mate? I got home and while cleaning my kit saw that I have a nice new contour in my boom arm. Only about a 30cm deflection. Super!

Hey mate think you were leaving as I was just about to go out on the water. Gusts up to 35 knots and only had a 5m with me! Was a good session though and good see so many windsurfers havin fun. The gusts were the problem - one minute 30 - 35 knots the next about 20... Definitely keeps you on your toes. Even the kite boys didn't come out and play..My mate even went on a 6m! Nutter.
