Hi All,

Will be staying in Sydney late in the year for about a month - planning on bringing my big foil gear. I saw some of the NSW the race schedules so have some idea of sailing locations. Was wondering if anyone knew of any area clubs where I could store a kit to avoid too much hauling. Don't have a particular location in Sydney locked in yet.

Cheers.

Hi Travel Dog

You can probably find someone sailing at most water ways at some point but the most common sites would be

Kyeemagh near the airport - and all the way down Brighton beach - best in NE common in summer and S/SE if you like bumps. Heaps of foils and windings and even slalom sailors here.
Kurnell - further around opposite the airport on Botany Bay. +5kts in a NE. Offshore and flat in S

Sydney Harbour is off limits but all the little coves can be OK - I'll let others opine on the best spots but if there is a sailing club nearby that is a good indication. Balmoral, Rose Bay, little Manly etc.

Palm Beach can be can be good but a lot of boats around.

Looking forward to sailing in Summer !

When you get here call in to WSS in north manly the only local shop and have a chat they will help you out. Pittwater, Narrabeen Lake, Clontarf, and Balmoral, are the most common blasting spots north of the bridge and south of the Hawkesbury but everywhere can be a massive disappointment on all but the perfect days. Sydney windsurfing is very frustrating due to inaccurate forecasting and unreliable wind, but when it works its oh so good!

Is Sydney foiling any less frustrating?
