Hi all,

Just wondering the best spots in Syd for the forecasted Westerly's tomorrow. I'm going to can golf and get the gear out tomorrow but want to make sure I head to the right spot and haven't sailed in a Sydney Westerly for a looooong time.

Used to do Narrabeen lake a lot but haven't been there in 15(?) years .... is it still there? What's the condition of the lake re weeds and general water qual.

Other options are Palm Beach (pittwater side) or South side of Syd which I have never sailed. (Hoping to get to the fun race soon).

Any suggestions and tips?

Lake Dangerous is still there and still working
Its the usual gusty wind but what isnt in Sydney from the west.
Just go to the northern Wakehurst Parkway side and rig and launch from there.
If you want to do some speed runs just head upwind and sail under the sand bar at Pipeclay Point on the southern side.

We were out at Laperouse today, very bumpy and gusty. I went out on a 5.2 but a 4.7 would have been much better. As I was packing up, at about 5.30pm, it was a struggle to get the board on the car without the risk of being blown away. By that stage 4.2 or less would have been the go.

Tomorrow I might try the speed strip near St George Sailing club, it's supposed to be SW by bom forecast, and tide is low by 4pm.

Well I need to drop in to WindSurfnsnow to pick up a mast shim so I'm kinda committed to Narrabeen aka Lake Dangerous. I don't suppose the shallows have moved much in the last 15 years and boy do I miss the pelican itch.

I think a W/SW is better there than anything from the NW at Narrabeen L so will persevere. Can always bail out to Pittwater if need be (and if can be bothered to derig and travel).

Graphs are showing ave of 18 knots W so we'll have to see. Reckon it will be stronger!

Will be the first time on the water in 2 years but have updated a few bits and pieces so sounds perfect for some experimentation and re-intro. Itching to get out there (literally!!).

If you see a faded pink Wild Winds seat harness that's been beamed straight from the late 80's ... that's me!!
