In a NE you can launch from pretty much anywhere from the airport down to dolls point. That being said the northern half is pretty much closed off atm due to the desalination pipeline laying and there is a big M$%#$^% barge sitting in the middle of the area creating amassive wind hole.
The easiest access to water is at ramsgate beach which has a pretty sharp drop off into deeper water making it easy regardless of tide. A lot of the Formula sailors launch from here since they use huge fins. Looking at the conditions i wont be surprise if a bunch of them turn up on the weekend. (its also far enuf south to not be affected by the barge)
Kurnell is great in a NE but if you coming from north side its a much longer drive. In lower tides you have to walk out thru a bit of sludge to get to the deeper water. once out tho kurnell has some best winds around.

The main reason Ramsgate started being used, was because of the carparking issues through Summer. So much so that we started running events from there also. It has great parking, and plenty of grass for rigging up on.
Water depth is not an issue for Formula, you just walk out a little further.
The top 5 windsurfers on the NSW Speed ranking table, also happen to be Formula sailors........
