Saw a new NIB healthfund ad which featured a segment of a guy doing a massive jump in the surf..Then it says ( if your under 31years old...)and encourages you to join..
Seems like NIB thinks differently to 'Lot of wind' re windsurfer age..

Be thankful that they are promoting windsurfing.

The gear in the video looks pretty advanced for 1983!

One of the board directors must be a avid windseeker

they're not promoting windsurfing... They are linking it to things that 'were' fads in the last 30 years, like brake dancing and roller skates.
take a closer look at the type of footage they have used along with the effects... the aim is to make it look like old VHS footage and heighten the sense of age or aged
yes it's a windsurfer, yes it's doing a big jump but in the context of the ad, no it is not promoting windsurfing

I guess the ad is as bad as the scare mongering "avoid life time health cover loading" tag line.

Never mind the windsurfing shot looks more like it's from the 90s and the roller blading crazy didn't really get into full swing in the US until about 1990. As I have seen pointed out elsewhere wouldn't people born in 1983 be more attached and hence being able to relate to things from the mid to late 90s?Makes me wonder if they saw one of those "If you were born in 19xx" type post cards and thought lets make that into an ad.
Interesting this was created by Saatchi & Saatchi. Must have been a small budget.

sadly I agree, when i saw this I felt irritated at those who don't understand... and then thankful that my beach isn't overcrowded.
I describe windsurfing (and the cost of equipment) as 'paying a tariff' to have waves to myself... although pesky T-baggers have been around in recent times.
