Not many places reliabale and close to Sydney this time of year.

Smiths lake is as good as any, depends on the level of the lake too.

Plus you have the option of Wallis Lake (better option) just 5-10ks up the road towards Forster it works in most directions if there's wind. Check "The Boatshed' out on wallis lake Tiona Park and ask Chris or Gabe (they run Pacific Palms Windsurfing) for the best spots depending direction or call 0419 410 216 if there's nobody there (possible this time of year). BTW Tiona Park Tourist park (next door to the boatshed also has Cabins to hire.

How far is Tiona Park Tourist park from the water... is it close enough to walk your kit to the water??? If it is I might have to get myself a cabin...

Tiona Park is split into two buy the main road, so theres a Surf side and a lake side.
Like Jethro said about lake side, and its probably a 200m walk through shallow
(calf to knee deep) water till you get to a sailable depth at the Tourist park. Not a big deal but you should be aware. If you drive further up (towards Forster) to the sailing club its sailable right from the shore.

I spoke to Sam at 'Wind Surf & Snow' and we checked Google Earth and it appears that if its blowing westerly Hawks nest could be a good option as Krusty pointed out....and it doesn't appear to far from Smiths..

I think I'll go with Jethrow's & Crusty's call....I recon It'll be Hawks Nest..
