With the incoming NE today, what places on Botany Bay can one sail at.

My normal location is Kyeemagh or Brighton but are there any other better location on the Bay?

....does Brighton pick up more wind and have less shaddow in a NEr?

Good question, have not sailed there enough to know.

My thinking would be they are pretty close & an airport runway is one of the flatter objects to be on the windward side of a sailing spot so don't think it would be overly life changing between the two?

Where do you park/launch?

Today might be packed with families but every other day is good for parking.l always try parking my rig on the beach side & set up beside the car.

That was one of the better sails I have had.

Perfect wind & Kurnell is much flatter than I expected in that direction.

You were right about the kites, they are everywhere & there were only a few windsurfers out.

Is sailing like surfing and no one mentions locations? If not, where, specifically, did you launch from? Sounds good.

Hi Nige,

Conan was on the money, right near the Cat Club is the best launch. Drive along Prince Charles Parade, Kurnell, all the way to the end, you'll find a car park. You can launch anywhere along this road, west of the shipping wharf.

Kurnell's wind is 5 knots stronger and much cleaner than Kyeemagh in a nor easter. It's cross onshore and pretty shallow for about 50m so it's a great place to learn / get back into the sport.

I think only the wave sailors like to keep "secret" spots.

It was definately windier there than anywhere else....I checked everywhere from long reef south nursing a hangover. Was a bit if flat water fun but the kites could only be described as novice. Go have a look Sunday if blowing NE and head upwind a bit
