Marmong Point Sailing Club extends an invitation to all classes of windsurfers to attend our annual Mid-Winter Classic 2009 Regatta. It will be held over the weekend of 18th-19th July.

So come along, dust off the cobwebs and get in some practice before the 2009-2010 Summer season begins! And don't miss the famous Marmong Regatta barbie on Saturday afternoon after racing.

All classes are welcome, from Formula (including FE+) right through to Wallies and Raceboards.

So come and join us at the club, George St, Marmong Point (Lake Macquarie/Newcastle). 1.5 hrs drive North of Hornsby.

More details about registration times, entry fees etc will be posted here once they are available.

Look forward to seeing you here for a hopefully windy weekend.

PS - dont forget that Marmong races formula and longboards every Saturday (wind permitting) from 1:30pm. All invited.

James,

We need to take into account the fact that NZ play Aust at 5.35pm. It will be pretty tight to get racing in, the BarBQ, do the 3 S's and then get to wherever to watch the match (Belmont I expect).
For my part I will endeavour not to keep people waiting for my finish as long - even if it means retiring ;-)

Looking forward to a great weekend,

JB

That would be this weekend. I was talking about the 18th - the same day as the MidWinters at Marmong - subtly hinted at in the title of the thread.

See you Sunday

Can someone look at their tealeaves and see if there will be any wind this weekend?

Looks like a classic Marmong MidWinter regatta coming up. Fading SW.

That might be a good omen though in that normally the forecast is good and that conditions aren't. Does that make sense.

Anyway, I'm in for sure.

Sam.

Thanks for bringing this post back to the top John and Sam.

A few more details are now confirmed:

- The entry fee is $20. All sailors will need to be a member of an AWA affiliated club for insurance purposes etc. For those not in a club, signup on the day to Marmong SC (or perhaps Stormriders for Sydney based people) will be available.

- We have decided to skip the Saturday BBQ this year and instead head off for dinner together somewhere showing the Rugby straight after sailing. Still working out details of where to go, but we will let everyone know on the day when you register. Meals/drinks will be at your own cost, but free entertainment will be provided by Jaybee.

- Registration starts at 10:30am Saturday morning (18th) with the earliest race start 12 noon.

Look forward to seeing lots of you up here.

Cheers

I think it's reverse psychology but I may have just undone it by typing this.

I'd like to propose we have a meeting on Saturday before racing to discuss next Summers Race series. Some of you will know that Brett will not be here for next season, and as such we need to form a committee to get all the things done, that Brett used to do.

Brett and I will try and finalise the calendar before Saturday.

Many hands make light work..........

How does 10 am sound for everyone?

I'll also be sending out a group email for those that may not see this, but if everyone could spread the word as well that would be great.

Thanks

Chris

I'm not going to make it up, as my sails are still in at Barracouta getting repaired, and I've got too much stuff to do before I leave for Europe.

Sam will be heading up still and will run the meeting in my absence. Please think about how we can make sure the series continues to run smoothly next Season

Nick Nelson has volunteered again to man the boat at the JB events, so thanks to Nick.

Eg we'll need someone to do event management probably on a roster, the results for each event, and somebody to take on the Treasure's role as well as other members to help out on the committee.

I'll look to call a Stormriders AGM in Mid August when I'm back.

Thanks

Chris

Hi all,

Pretty light wind today but great to see about 20 people turn up.

Due to tomorrows forecast being a lot better in the morning, racing will be starting earlier than normal.

For those of you coming along for the day, try to be at the club by 10am for a briefing.

Should be a good day of racing.

Cheers

Ok guys here we go.
First thanks to all the guys who turned up especially those who travelled. The weather was great, just not a great deal of wind.
Racing started on Saturday with Barry going out as the crash test dummy then several Newcasle sailors following for a reasonable 3 races. The visitors stayed ashore and had hamburgers, some getting a DNF result due to the size of the burgers.
Saturdays results are a mixed result including 1 Wally (48) and 1 Raceboard (AUS747) and 3 formula boards.

Sunday, was expected to be the better day for breeze but ended up basically a carbon copy of Saturday. The breeze gradually started to increase so with everybody keen for a sail around 17 sailors hit the water.
Race 1 was to be 2 laps for the gun sailors as per normal and 1 lap for the usual suspects.
This worked out well for the 1 lappers who had plenty of rest waiting for the gun sailors to finish.
To ensure no protests, the results for this race were Barry Fawkes 1st of the 1 lappers and Sam Parker 1st of the gun sailors.
The next 4 races were all 1 lappers due to the fluky nature of the breeze. Results below.

Congratulations to Steve Walsh for his consistancy in coming 1st overall, and Rick Murray for his dogged persistance to claim 2nd overall. 3rd overall went to the lightweight flash Steve Floyd.
Congratulations too to Byron on his raceboard and Lyndon on his Wally for keeping the Formula guys honest, and showing that longboards work well in those marginal conditions.
Thanks again to all who participated, and remember the Marmong boys will be back doing it again next Saturday, so all visitors are welcome.
Cheers GeoffS
