There appears to be a WW shortage of large ( approx 1m) inflatable beach balls.
I want to make a back up buoy for the fun races that's compact and portable. The last one I made did the trick but I didn't secure it properly to the sand bag anchor and it got ripped away.

I bought the last ball from Clark rubber but it was a little on the small side. I've tried the toy section of K mart, target and others no luck. What's the world coming to. I did find an inflatable 2.4m Santa...which had me thinking.

If you happen to have an old beach ball one kicking around that you'd like to donate or know where I can buy one please let me know.

Inflatable pool toys are the go.
We used an inflatable croc as a jump target a few seasons back... took ages to burst it and proved very entertaining !
If You ties the weight to the tail it would just about stand upright out of the water. Surely NO ONE would miss that as a marker buoy ?

What about a fit ball??

You can get them cheap at K-mart.

Thanks guys. I have looked at the blow up toys, seems to be plenty about and that could be my back up.

Also looked at the fit ball which would be ideal but you need a pump to inflate it.

The beach ball is good because I have it inside some netting with the nipple sticking out. Takes up no room when deflated and it's pretty quick to blow up.

Des just don't get a blow up doll, otherwise there will be too many people falling in on purpose at the gybe points and spending too much time in the water

Yeah I thought about using my old life size blow up doll, secured in place with some leather strapping. But I thought it might be dangerous having sailors loitering around the gybe mark. Maybe an inflatable pig.

Ha, having a pig sounds good but our friend(s) from NZ might be more familar with a sheep

You are welcome Tim

I have enough trouble getting past the mark as it is without the need for further distraction from the comforts of home .

Don't knock the KIWIS too soon.

Check this out.

They also do a pool toy called the wobblie, which is a self righting 1.5m can.
