Has anyone sailed Kyeemah yesterday or lately with the flotilla and tubes in the way?
Looks hardly possible even in a southerly.
Just as well Feb/March has been windless.Anyone know if the work will be completed by next summer?

We had the usual size midweek crowd on Monday Tuesday and Wednesday. What you'll find has happened with the silt curtain and so forth is that the water surface has been considerably flattened. So if you just want to go back and forth at speed, it's actually pretty good.
I haven't noticed what effect the snake to the south has had on the southerly chop, but if the forecast is right, we'll find out on Friday.

Agreed, its very flat for that amount of wind. Tuesday was great!

They have put a floating rope 20m off the beach all the way from Kyeemagh pool to the pool at the Novotel... Basically you can not sail there anymore. You will have to drive a few KM's down the road to Ramsgate Beach i guess?

Not happy

Okay just off the phone with the desal plant propaganda line.

According to the nice lady on the phone 'we' are the reason for the direct access line 50 m off the beach being put there. As 'we' have not being obeying the 'no go construction zones'!

They are going to start laying the pipe next week from the northern end and move across the bay. The first few hundred meters of the pipe is tricky and will take longer but from that point the forecast of 90m a day is still on the cards. Approximatley 4 weeks until the direct access line is removed form the beach to allow 'us' access to the bay again.
What a naughty lot 'we' are!!

my guess is they didn't realize so many people would be sailing at this spot. it's probably an insurance issue. The easiest way to get rid of people windsurfing simply put up more obstacles.

How thick is the rope? Not that I am suggesting for anyone to say "have a very sharp fin"...

Any ideas how long those goons are going to be digging there?

Just got home from my drive around all the possible spots along Grand Parade Friday arvo. From what I saw the best spot could be the first carpark as you drive south from the main shopping centre of Brighton, there is plenty of parking and easy access to the beach. A few kite surfers there and a sea wall protruding from the beach but not high enough to affect the wind.

I should have stayed there a while cause the wind picked up according to SB.

I'm going to give La Perouse a go on Sunday. Should be a pretty clean wind and I feel like some bump and jump action.

If you must be like that please use the correct terminology - a spot becomes infested not polluted with kiters

About 10 or so ppl turned up for sail this arvo down at st georges yaght club - was a bit patchy at times but some of thebigger gusts were awesome. At least two people managed to break fins (no idea how since was in deep water)
GPS runs early on were showing about 25-28 knots but wind picked up later so not surprised if a few ppl clocked higher.

Most are plannig to be back down there 10 am sunday and looks like we might get even more wind.

i have no idea how i lost my fin either craig,
I was in the very middle of the bay running over some chop and it said good bye (maybe Sam will do me a good deal ), the other fella cleaned his off across the top of the oyster reef on the south eastern end behind the channel marker. Not so much fun, I think someone else lost one this morning also.

Update form the propoganda shop!

They have actually started to lay pipe and have just got off the Northern end (one month behind schedual) and are managing a massive 50 m of pipe per day. Well down on the forecast 96 m a day.
Somehow wether is playing a major part in the delay - hmmmmmm????
Forecast to open the bay back up is October 2009 so stand by for March 2010.
