It was only a matter of time.

You really have to blame the waterways for not Policing Jet ski's behavior.

Anyway I hope the poor bugger is OK.

only a matter of time till a jetskier cleans up a windsurfer or even a swimmer as they seem to like to hang close to shore so we can all admire them.....

Like i said on the other topic, Saturday two jet rescued somebody who apparently had his boom broken at Kyeemagh around 2ish and all of them quite behave themselves in the arvo. The dumb ones are a minority, but I agree with DavMen that the police boat isn't spending a lot of time in botany bay.... And a couple of week ago, during the NP trailer demo day, they arrived a 5pm when all the mess was obviously around 1-2pm... I guess this won't be the case for the next couple of week...

I agree, tis only a matter of time. I'm just amazed these things aren't legislated more. Some of the models can easily top out well over 100kmh. You have to by law wear a helmet riding a motorbike or even a pushbike for that matter, so why not on a jet ski? Whilst I don't wear one now I would have no problem if we were forced to wear helmets.
I saw 3 ridiculously quick ski's on Saturday heading up alongside the runaway as I was heading down it. One of them had 3 very big guys on it. Imagine the carnage there if it had an incident. To their defense they came nowhere near me but their speed just left me amazed. I think one thing in our (windsurfers) favour is that when the conditions are at their best for us they are probably at the worst for jet skiers, hence I 'hope' the likelihood of a collision is less.

Serious accident. The sad truth is that it has been on the cards for a long time. There is a reason jet skis are banned from most waterways.
