windhunter said...Hi all,
I'll be around the Central Coast in the coming weeks for work...SOooo I was thinking I might take the chance to try out any good windsurfing spots there.

Any suggestions?? I'd like to get an idea of the locations and/or conditions so I know what gear to take with me.
Thanks in advance!
Hey mate, I live on the coast and I'll give you the run down on our wave spots starting from the south
THE BOX or Umina as its already been mentioned the launch is actually Ettalong and the best wind directions are either SW or NE, SW is cross on and we usually only sail here when Towoon Bay is too off shore really really long wave rides 20 or more turns and holds swell up to double mast though if onshore can be sketchy as waves tend to block wind. If strong NE and big south swell can be epic down the line here also as wind funnels down the channel longest wave rides ever thought scoring it is pretty rare.
North Wamberal Works in a NE and picks up most swell directions point break and natural sand banks provide awesome DTL sailing though tends take more wind to really work and can also have a very nasty shore break. Really only sail here when it's really strong and the swell is very east.
Forrestors Beach by far one of the best down the line spots on the east coast this spot features an island centered in the middle and 3 reefs that hold only south swell.reefs are pretty easy to work out lefts, rights and no mans. you can ride all three in NE with lefts and no mans being cross off and rights side to cross on.This is a fairly expert spot as there is shallow reef strong rips(onto sharp rocks) and a strong surf influence as long a planning condition's its fairly safe although we tend to sail here in lighter conditons as we use the rip to float out the back through the channel though of over head high can close out point to point and push you up on the rocks.I have had some of my best sails here in perfect mast high down the line waves.Once swell is too big on lefts we usually ride no mans as there is a bigger channel and its a fair bit safer most days by about 4pm it usually swings to north and becomes gusty if really strong rights then becomes quite good.
Towoon Bay the local Love it DTL in east swell amazing reforming wave on the south point sucky and speedy. works SSW right round to E and also in northly can be great dtl on the south side of the south point called the shark pit.Hold any size swell and always someone to sail with.
North Entrance great in NE if too light or too north at forrie's can have a sucky shore break but usually a fun bank and good jumping.
Pello's or Pelican beach first up very dodgy car park so we usually park at soldiers and sail down great the line always 5 knots stronger in NE than anywhere 3 banks and picks up all swell so great dtl when forries is not working properly.
Lots more places to sail in flat water and waves but these are the most consistent places.
