Wow what a tricky one... looking at the models for tomorrow the swell and wind should first pick up along Longy and Wanda along with Gerroa.

Rain patterns should be a bit heavier further South. But that said Gerroa sits in a rain shadow when it's blowing North to North East.

I think if the rain kicks in the Gong might be rained out.

So what gives? Anyone driving to Gerroa? Who's sailing in Longy / Wanda?

I'm trying to find anything that's even remotely factual in your post.
Might try Google.

Another display of Boris's wonderful people skills hey. I'm wondering how accurate his weather predicting skills are.

In any case, I'm going to also politely counter your theory to an extent.

If it's cloudy rainy weather and it blows, you can bank on the Gong blowing stronger than Gerroa.
If it's any sort of weather, and before November, you can pretty much bank on the Gong out-blowing Gerroa as well.

There's going to be random days which buck this trend, but contrary to any BOM info (as if they have a clue at the best of times anyway) that's generally how it goes year in, year out. Has every season for the 8 seasons I've been down here.

I wouldn't bet 2 cents on Longy getting anything. It's hard enough to get a NE'r in summer. But August? Good luck. I hope for my former fellow residents sake that I'm wrong.

As for Wanda, who cares. Only tossers sail there.

I'd agree with you there... but I guess after sitting most of this winter in rainy Sydney I'm keen to not sail in rain... or may it's just nostalgia.

Wishful thinking from my part as I live close this beach now.

Oh dear, I think you just unleashed all hell...

Qwerty,

What have you got against Wanda?

Anyway, being from the north side I agree Longy generally sux in a seabreeze NE however the quality of the waves (southerly swell) can make it great in NE pressure breezes and ENE at Butterbox.

Happens a few times a year and I got on the water at 6.15am last Nov.

Totally agree. When Longy blows, it's awesome. Doesn't have to be strong. The waves are great.
Butterbox is as smooth as it gets.

This NE er is a gradient wind not a thermal, am I right?
If the graph says it will blow 30 knots from the NE then it will, I suppose.
Long reef should be fine.
