Monday the 24th, 45 knots plus forecasted in Newcastle, who's sailing ?

Nerdy if it happens the Queens mudbank will be cooking in the West or SW. I have marked the Monday and Tuesday out of my work calendar just in case it comes true. This far out anything can happen in the forecast - it has changed dramatically since the last update 3 hours ago.

You better buy a suitable weedy just in case so you can get that 113 slipping over the smooth shallow water on the mud bank!!!!!!!

Cheers ill keep an eye on the forecast if its looking good for Monday and queens, I prob could have a cheeky day off work to sail. Will let you know on Sunday. I'm hoping ill get out this arvo for a wave sail with 20 knots sw and some building southerly swell, fingers crossed !
I'm up to the goldie and brissie this weekend, so will check the shops for a weedy, any suggestions for 113 and 7 m sail ? I have a 39 cm fin that's great in light wind but prob to much for high wind or chop with the 7 m, what other size slalom fin would you recommend to put with this combo ?

I have the same 113 as you and I use a 40cm pointer fin with an 8m, and a 38cm pointer with my 7.3, so I reckon your selection of a 39 is bang on. If I need to change down to below a 7.3 i just grab a smaller board.

For a weedy in the 113 I use a 38cm Flying Objects fin. This fin works well for a weedy, but even still at 38 cm of depth it is still too big for sailing on the mudbank. So when I am on the 113 I just sail the body of the lake and hit the mudbank when I use a smaller board with a smaller fin. You can generally get away with a 34cm weedy for the mudbank, but even then you will touch earth occasionally. When i use the 30cm weedy in my smallest board i dont touch at all

There are lots of styles of weedies out there, perhaps something with a thicker base and shorter length like the Maui Ultra Fin delta might be a choice if you only want to run a bigger board but still want to sail the flat water of the mud bank. Can you still get 4WD access to the beach at manning point? I feel a 2 second PB coming on.

Cheers thanks for the info, i think if its too windy for my 113 & 7m, ill just jump aboard my 100 FSW and 6.2/5.7 it has a 25 cm wave fin so should clear the mud, no as fast but fun anyway.

I got out this arvo for about 2 hrs before the wind died and light faded, winter time doesn't give much time in the arvo, for after work for fun, but wasn't too bad, 3 ft + swell and 20 knots sw, was gusty but a great end to the day.

Aussieb thanks for the fin offer, but ill pass, i just don't think fin that small and raked would work on the 113 with the 7 m, but thank you for the offer.

Hopefully the wind comes good for next week, I'm definitely keen to be sail queens again, or in the waves in coffs, not fussy really, just want some more water time.

They actually work quite well, just need to use a different stance getting over to the mudbank as the shallow fin doesnt like big chop, but once on the bank they work fine. They are quite thick and wide but not deep. I have borrowed a couple of demos from Mark several times and ran them in my 99 and 113 on the Queens mudbank and Wallis Lake weed banks.
