2 weeks ago i headed out on saturday afternoon at Kyeemagh in a harness for the first time (Thanks to one of the local guys Walter for pushing me to make the jump).

I have a ball and loved every bit - its definitely a totally different experience. I stayed out for 3.5 hours and wasn't as totally stuffed physically by the end because i wasn't hanging on so hard.

on my last starboard tack i was blown off by a really large gust. during the day i had seen a number of really large jelly fish (as big as a dinner plate) sitting on the surface so i was pretty paranoid that i was going to get stung. i quickly swam over to the board and pulled myself on really hard and fast. In doing so i rammed my hardness hook straight through the bottom of the board - to the point where i was actually stuck trying to pull myself down and free for about 2 mins in the water. nevertheless i put a hole in the bottom of my board.

I am planning on taking my board down to wind-surf-n-snow this weekend to get it repaired.

Is there anything i should worry about? is this the best place to take it? (i am a long way from their shop, so would love a repairer more local to St Leonards).

Hi Doug. How big is the hole? You could try to patch it up with alredite if it's not too big.

Have you left the board out in the sun on a hot day? That's probably hard with the weather we have. What a fantastic summer.... There is a fair chance water has been sucked in the board. So trying to dry it out wouldn't be a bad idea.

I'm not sure who can fix boards nowadays in Sydney. They would probably suck any water out properly.

Hi dougr,

I'm glad I convinced you to put the harness lines on, and even more pleased that you managed to hook in and enjoy the sail longer. Well done.

But with the good came the bad and what hard luck hitting the harness hook into your board it must of been some fright from the jelly fish, I feel bad suggesting to use the harness lines I hope the board repairs doesn't set you back to much sorry about that. I have my old board that you could use until your board is repaired, if that helps.

Well, if you need any more help or advise just come over and ask next time at the beach, happy to help.

Kind Regards
Walt

Get all/as much as pos.of the water out of the board before you do any repairs.
Leaving it in the sun etc.helps.
Board can de-laminate when the water heats up and expands.

Maybe you can ring WsnS and ask them where the repairers are located.

I think I heard one was located in Greenwich (that's pretty close if he is still there!), and I know there is another in Berry.

I think Rainman and John H have both lost interest.

Ring Windsurfnsnow. Slalomfreak is right, Hally only comes up to Sydney occasionally and Rainman is not doing work anymore.
Mate of mine from Palm Beach does great repairs, Sam, Chris or Anne will be able to help you out there.

there's a guy at Taren Point that does epoxy repairs - Cajun (maybe Kajun) surfboards, he is one of the few around that will do them and does a great job
