im not sure who has worked it out but how many gybes in this sesh was it 2km laps is that 1 gybe every km or every 2kms did he do 500 odd gybes or 250 either way sh#t loads amazing stuff ?

I have processed 2 shots of the man in action, there may be more, I took loads that day, when I get home, I'll go thru the rest.

Kato said 2-2.5 km runs, he did about 300 gybes and only dropped 5!

but you and your gear might be all wonky now after going around in circles for so long.. Best you do it again in the other direction to straighten yourself out.

Well, I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but it turns out it is a very close thing. My initial analysis suggested to me that Craig exceeded his old record by about 2 km. That is not quite enough to establish a new WGPSSRC record. For that, one must exceed the old record by more than 1%, which would be about 5.5 km in this case.
Further, more careful analysis now puts Craig's recent distance at just over 538 km after deducting the calculated error margin, just a couple of KM short of his existing WGPSSRC World 24 Hour windsurfing record.

On the positive side, it is definitely the furthest distance sailed in a single calender day anywhere and is a new top distance mark in the GPSTC. I think it also the furthest distance anyone has sailed in 12 hours.

OK. Good news. I am wrong! It will be a new record. I was thrown out because the distance shown on the GPSSS records list is wrong. It says 541 km's for the existing record and Craig tells me it should be 531 km's. I checked and he is correct. The 541 was the raw distance before correction for error.
So it appears that Craig HAS sailed a new 24 hr record of around 538 km's.

Well thank goodness for that. It would be extremely annoying to sail that far and miss out on a record because of a technicality.
