So ive got 5 maybe 6 board all Ok, but way outdated, 6 sails all work well, a few masts SDM, a few booms knocked around, fins etc, really only use two boards, dont get to windsurf as much as i would like... maybe twice a week in summer WA... not much in winter... So am looking for the best experience when i can.. assuming RDM is the way to go...

I want to get RDM masts, etc, booms, but would they benefit my 6 year old sails? I doubt it....

Im considering taking the lot to a shop, appelaing to them to be nice and upgrade the lot.

I only use 3 sail sizes and two board sizes....

is that what you do after years of putting your gear together.... Im a bit atatched to my pile of stuff.....

I get a buzz out of giving away old unused gear if it goes to new comers/learners, but I get p__d off when there are those out there who try to gather everything and then don't use it - just because it's free!
I've seen it several times.
Good luck whatever you decide.
Cheers

ps - probably didn't word that the best, but hope you know what I mean......

Life is short and uncertain. Get the gear you want asap and don't look back. RDMs feel awesome. Chase those good feelings now and decide what to do with your old stuff later.

I had a stack of gear and decided that I only had one good purchase left in me, so I sold some gear, gave some away and the remainder went to the tip.

It resulted in me buying 2 boards and 2 sails (with a couple of old sails that I kept). I just needed time and wind to use them.

In WA you are lucky. We get an influx of Euros each summer who want something inexpensive to sail for the summer, but in reasonable condition. They are not too worried about the vintage as long as it's not ancient. You can even sell ancient stuff if the price is right. If you can put together a package so they don't have to shop around for bits you shouldn't have to wait too long to sell.
You can advertise on seabreeze, or gumtree, or I'm sure a shop would be only too happy to take your gear on consignment if it is in reasonable condition and especially if you were upgrading to their gear.

I have collected a lot of boards and stuff. Usually dirt cheap and by the time I am finished with it, it is not really that useful to anyone.

I bought a board for $36 from ebay, and repaired it. Where do I send that board when I don't use it? It's still fine and useful on those nuking days when its over 30knots, but otherwise I don't use it.

Ahh, to have gear that was new enough to have a resale value

All your sails mast booms can be set up on a longboard skateboard .
You don't worry about it if you drop it & break and in the worst case you have to ride your skateboard back but the stuffs really tuff & its surprising how much it will take .
All you have to do is get a long board skateboard for example mine cost $68 from big w .
Drill a hole in front of board to take mast base screw on nut under board finished .
Find somewhere with a bit of space maybe lights at night .E.g. car park, netball courts , main highway, I like to go down the park at night the sports field has a large car park that is under lights that nobody uses at night ,put some music on skate around have a totally cool work out get a good sweat up chill out with cold beer then do it again . Its great on those nights when I cant sleep & its windy outside .

I gave away a lot of older gear, including my favourite sail ever, an 85 North Ezzy Wave, to a new windsurfer.
