I don't think today is a good day for learning to gybe.
It's a bit wild out there and hard to remain in control.

Pelican Point is a good shallow water place to learn to gybe.

We're looking at closeto 40knts chief, not a good day for learning to gybe. But if you're desperate, head down to the swan river and good luck.

U'd struggle, but windsurfing in all conditions is a learning experience. Get out there and have some fun, worst case scenario is you'll just be falling off heaps. Flatten the sail and crank on the downhaul & u should be OK.

and beware, I find the anemometer for Melville water reads 5 knots lighter than it actually is in a norwester. (For the Melville side anyway)
Graph says 15, wind actually 20.

If you go out today go to Melville. If you get in trouble you'll just get blown back to the beach.
If you get in trouble at Pelican Point today you will also end up at Melville. Long walk home from there.

Many MANY many years ago on a day like today I pulled of my first gybe at Melville using a 4.5m "storm sail" pulled as flat as a tack.
I hope you got out there and gave it a shot.

A better day for trying gybes today. Good luck!
And good on you for taking the bull by the horns and going out yesterday...
