So it wasn't possible to quickly wrap the uphaul around your ankle, and swim to the board? I guess it all happens so quickly.
I watched a very inexperienced guy at Ballina once, he didn't have very good rig control on the beach, it was way too big for me so I didn't go out, he managed to get going and then in the main break the rig and board parted ways. He was left with the rig, the board surfed the wave back into the beach, it was a long swim...
I checked out Kirra at about 2pm, too light for me, only about 12 knots or so. From the graphs it looks like it picked up after I left. Damn!
