Just reading Wet willy s thread

got me wondering what windsurf gear people have left
behind in the rush to go windsurfing. The last thing i forgot was my wetsuit on a 10 degree day .

I forgot my harness once... I'll never do that again
I also use to put the gear I needed according to the forecast. But doing that doesnt allow for a drop in wind or even an increase

Ummm the bolt for my fin

I forgot the straps that hold the board down on the roof rack once, it was an old Calypso, I drove about 100 meters down the road when the penny dropped, lucky she was a heavy as board, I mean boat No damage just a scare!

I also forgot the straps that hold the board to the roof racks once - unfortunately I wasn't so lucky as you Mintox and didn't realise until my F2 Sputnik flew off the roof at 60kph down a hill - lucky nobody injured but the board was pretty smashed up. Use a van now so don't need to worry about straps anymore!

just about every piece of equipment possible, all at different times.

Jeez its frustrating when you get to your spot and realise youve left the mast home, or the boom home, or the sail home

I'm with grumps, but I blame it on lack of experience, I normally sail from home.

Slightly off topic but i remember watching an intermediate windsurfer back in uk. He had the right size sail and board for the wind but he just couldn't get planning. He was adjusting the settings on the sail, moving harness lines and deckplates backwards and forwards. It was only after a while that I noticed he had left his fin cover on!!

The next week i did the same drive (about an hour and a half) with my brother only to realise we'd forgotten our masts!!

The usual, left the harness at home in a hurry for an after work sail, mad rush to get home and get back to sail.
The worst one I remember was on a surfing trip up to the Gold Coast many moons ago. We all got there but one of the boys actually forgot his...................yep, surfboard. Didnt he cop some stick.

i've forgot my mast, mast extension, harness, uni, fins, on different days, the most anoying was i took my skinny mast and my standard size mast extension oops, and i was an hour away from home. the funniest thing to see, i've seen it a few times, guys pumping off the beach on the first run out, and go to hook in to find there harness still in the car. another fella couldn't get on the plane, fliped his board over, yep, fin cover still on lol.

I've never forgotten anything...how could I? For the past two years I sailed in Singapore...they have a windsurfing club right on the beach where you can store your sails fully rigged (with the tension released, of course), your boards, your extra sails, fins etc, and hang up your boardies, rash shirt, towel etc.
Showers and change rooms. A windsurf shop on site, plus two independent operators doing board and sail repair/new and used equipment sales... oh yes, plus a restaurant and bar. Hence, my spoilt brat attitude.

So, why would I leave this paradise?

Slightly off topic, but boardboy's avatar reminded me of the time I drove 3 hours to go rockclimbing, only to find I'd left the rope behind.

My biggest drama is leaving stuff at the beach, too knackered and in a hurry to get home for some rocket fuel (rum)

Hey X-man we have a couple of contacts over in Mauritius so depending on where you left your harness all might not be lost.
One of our team riders is based there for 7 months of the year and he is due out to Oz in a couple of months.

As for stuff we forgot to take windsurfing... does leaving a team rider back at the house count ?
