Hi all I hope you don't mind me adding onto this thread with a query of my own.
Firstly last summer I got back into windsurfing after a 20 year hiatus & I've found this forum both really informative & very entertaining
I'm looking at upgrading a bit of gear for summer for using down Albany way (WA), for just general blasting around. FWIW I weigh about 70kg & have no problems with getting in the harness & straps just working on my gybes (make 1 in 3) & waterstarts.
I've currently got a Mistral Screamer II 104l that I use as my light wind board & a 80l Starboard Acid as my high wind board. I'm looking for something inbetween those & was thinking lowish 90l fsw type board or even a 2012 95l Rocket that I see is for sale. Board will only be 2nd hand at this stage.
Sailwise I've currently have a 2009 7.5m Severne Glide & an old 6.7m Gaastra MC 2x 1995 vintage! both run on a 460 mast as well as a an old nearly knackered 5.5m Gaastra 2x. Then I have a NP 5.5m V8 with mast, sail is old but in pretty good nick & for higher winds a 2012 5m Gaastra Manic as well as a couple of 2009 Kaos 4.7m & 4.2m.
So what I want to do is end up with a board & rig set up that's really good for around the 14-20 knot range. At this stage I'm thinking of a new Ezzy 430 mast & a sail to match that. Would I be better to go for a larger sail like a 6.5m Cheetah or Legacy & then maybe down the track look at a 5.8/5.5m Tiger or 5.5m Cheetah or go the reverse? The other option would be to go for something like the Cheetah 6m or 6.3/6.0/5.8m Tiger & buy a larger sail to replace the 6.7m Gaastra.
I'm using Ezzy as the example as there is currently a sale on & general consensus seems to be that their gear is good quality & the CC masts can be used with a fair few other brands.
Sorry if the posts a bit long but I thought the more info I put in the better. Thanks in advance for any advice you can offer
