I think your prob better off starting on the GO and moving to somthing like a scross later. The go well be more stable and can be knocked around abit more.

May be Vando is right as I see that the Cross is the mc version which is the light weight one I think.Sorry.

wow thanks everyone for the quick response, thats fantastic. So if the scross mc is out, would an exocet scross (not mc) or starboard go be better or are they much the same?

My mrs learnt on a 2006 Starboard Go 139. She's 50kg and had no prior sailing experience. Plenty stable enough for her and it gets along quite nicely when the wind picks up. If she had prior sailing experience we probably would have got the next size down in the Go range. Her only dislike of the 2006 GO is the anti-slip coating on the edges that used to take a bit of skin off the shins/legs in the early days when falling off. The current model GO's look to have a full EVA deck so wouldn't have this problem.

Her favorite addition so far has been a Gun 3.7 with RDM mast because it's such a light setup.

Just wondering if the really light weight options which are now available might be a good alternative ? Nonplaning beginners in lightwinds are not going to break a full carbon mast, and a complete rig feels like it weighs nothing at all.
Must be good for learning foot steering and such

Thanks for the info,have tested the scross mc had to be a bit more careful where I put my feet than the big hire boards but could get going... apart from that, as I have only been a few times not surewhat to look for. At my level as long as I can go straight and tack I think I could have fun on anything. I guess the thing I am worried about is will the more high performance board cause me to do any unplanned somersoults or is it much of a muchness? A lighter rig sounds like a great idea I will look into it. Thanks
