I am heading up to Batemans Bay during the school holidays (28th Sept for a week) and was hoping the "locals" could list a few sailing spots (and wind directions that they work on).
regards

Hi MaxS,
I sailed there a couple of years ago now. I was staying at the Murramarang Resort (about 10 minutes drive north of Batemans Bay) which had a beautiful little beach perfect for launching on. Worked great in a Nor easter. There is a road down the side of the resort for non staying guests to get to so you should be sweet in that respect. Another day I sailed at Broulee which is south of Batemans but on the coast still. This was awesome in a southerly as it had a sheltered kind of bay which made for superb speed runs with beautiful clear water over a rock shelf. Check both places out on Google Earth, you'll see what I mean. I didn't see anyone else while I was there so i don't know if there are any locals to sail with but hopefully if it's school hols you might have some luck!

Head down to Broulee in a NE for some nice bump and jump (park and rig on the grass area behind the dunes opposite the shops.) Small number of locals plus a large influx of Canberra sailors getting their ocean fix makes for a great arvo on the water!

Be aware that Noreasters are a lot stronger at Broulee than in Batemans Bay so don't give the day away to golf if it looks a little light.

In noreasters Broulee is usually 2 or 3 knots stronger than Moruya

If you haven't got internet the Moruya airport number is 4474 0971 to check if it's worth the 10 minute drive south, add 2 or 3 knots.

Canberrans don't go down for southerlies, I've tried they're not forecast accurately enough to risk it, but I've heard they can be good.
