just purchased a new '05 gaastra poison 4.2, at a great price, and am contemplating spending the money i saved on a rdm to rig it on. are any mast brands better than others for matching this gaastra, and also my aerotech charge 4.7? was searching through old forums and it seems some masts suit only some brands, due to their bend. there's an ezzy 400 rdm for sale in the buy and sell, what are they like? thanks

Gaastra were very very mast specific but dunno about them since Barry left.

Here is all you need to know.....

very interesting. i guess from the following quote:

For instance, Gaastra, Fiberspar (the longer masts) and Maui Sails masts are all very stiff in the tops

that i could possibly use a std 430 mast with about 60cm poking out the top and achieve the same stiffness in the upper part of the sail as with a specific gaastra rdm mast? i have used my 4.7 aerotech charge with my 430 std north sting, and it sets fine. do i need a rdm to get my gaastra to set properly, or is it just marketing? i realise that a rdm is better value in the long run anyway, and will probably get one, but just wondering.
