I remember seeing this a while ago and thought it was fantastic. I think because my hands are so short and I have deep pockets, I decided to make it myself. In reflection, it would have been better to just buy the clew-view. I also have a few older hydra sails which have the bottom batten extending past the boom, I think with my setup I can still record but have not tried.
The only real issue with my setup is that it only works with that thin RRD boom. But I think I can use a fly mount and an aluminium 25cm extension and a few bits and pieces to get it to work with my larger boom.
Come to think about it I think I might have even asked on this forum what the quality of the clew View was like.
Orange whip you have had one for a few years any issues with it?
(just asking incase my arms grow longer and I can reach my wallet)

Easier to buy a tracking drone if you need to film yourself,
cheap as these days.
A 5min vid just filmed with a fly mount gets boring to watch after 30 seconds,
with a tracking drone you can shoot many angles... from in front, behind, the side and above which will show way more of the action and conditions as well as background scenery etc.
Smoother vid to watch as well.
Fly mount is ok for quick 5 second bits in between the good real action footage.

I have two clew-view.com units. I love 'em. Minimum swing weight compared to some pvc pipe mounts I made a couple years ago.

Can you still duck gybe without any issues?

Also I started going through the 1hour 30min session which was gybe and quick tack practise and cut it down to about 2 and a half mins. Plenty of boring stuff to go through but I think I have found my faults.

I didn't realize there was a specific clew mount! I've been using the flymount.

Downside: The flymount knob and gopro stick out of one side of the boom. It hasn't been much of a problem but I hit the knob really bad on this goofy jibe entry (think I crossed out of a wind shadow but it could just be my sailing ability showing ). That stung a bit:

No problem with my setup, with the clew view it does look like it could get in the way.

Hi Manuel7, yeah all completed and it is worked out great. Thank you very much for your help. I am going to see if I can cut the sup pole down a little after I try out the hydra sails. I am interested to see if I can duck jibe. Might mean getting my body a little bit lower. Not sure what the footage would look like when trying to fault find the duck though.
