Hey md74,

You need to change your handle to "Alley Bandit". Hmmm gusty swirly offshore winds and having to dodge masses of angry surfers, or....
Lovely smooth wind and flat water with a tiny bit of chop in the Tweed river. *drools*

Ahhh the Tweed River, perfect tide, good strong 15-20 knots, trying to get those carves happening properly. At least, trying to do things in the right order. Why oh why is it so hard to get everything right? I invented a new way of falling off today, somehow I managed to spin out as I was entering the carve, so the tail instead of following the nose started making its own way around the inside of the turn. Very strange feeling, I did it three times on different occasions thisafternoon. I'm calling it the "Sparve".

Enjoy the travel Junior, I hope the luggage nazis weren't too nasty with regard to your kit! Hope you get some good wind and waves over in WA

Nice pics!

Where were you guys mainly going? Past the breakers out to Palm Beach area and back again? Or catching waves and getting mired in the swirly turbulence off the big rock there?

Was it gusty?

There was a shark hanging around at about 2+ metres and thick.
I was heading out after taking a rare wave through all the way inside thinking that this is where there is no wind-might have to swim it in.Managed a jibe and headed back out and thought I would buzz close to the turtle out the back .Unfortunately it was no turtle but a tourist hungry shark looking for schoolies.I gave it a wide berth of about 10metres and kept motoring.
Headed upwind and as I was coming in over the speed humps mentioned that there was a decent shark out the back. The surfer learner lady I spoke to summed up the Australian attitude.OH IS HE STILL THERE.
Classic.
NOt a bad day .wind kept up and the other side was good until after 430pm.
Even that old windsurfing guy from the shop managed to keep his puff up for an hour or so.

hey Nebbian, we sailed on the northenr side of the rock for the 1st 2 hours, fully powered up both in and outward runs, not many waves was the only issue, at about 2pm it got a bit gusty, but still the gusts were more of an overpowering gust than a die in the cake gust.

It was a great arvo, and the pics demonstrate what a beautiful place it is, clear water, great backdrop, sharks, woops did someone mention sharks!! Well lucky enough I didnt see the shark, if I did you would see some real cheap kit for sale in the classified section

front beach at currumbin was fun later.

saw the uncovered reef that looked like a shark that rustle was talking about! scared the living out of me until i realised that it was a rock!

why does rustle and md74 keep seeing sharks?

there is just no evidence to support that they want to hang out with windsurfers, ever!!!

greenleader, you see, I come from the freshwater world, where the only nasty thing in the water is pissed fishermen in tinnies, or the occassional dead sheep carcus!

I must correct you, for never have I laid eyes upon, nor laid claim to seeing a shark, but I am a touch edgy! however I have enjoyed the frequently seen white pointers on our great beaches, totally harmless creatures!

Nice day out there today, good to see the kites well outnumbered by sails

Managed several wave rides, well that is if you count 40 cm as a wave

Didn't see any sharks, or shark-shaped rocks, or even rock-shaped sharks (wobbegongs)!

awesome arvo, but now greenleader has found proof of sharks there, Im never going there again, for the rest of today.

for your info greenleader the story has it there is a resident tiger shark that lives on or near the reef (where is the reef?), nice 2 story dwelling, pool, triple garage, he is doing well for himself.

Was great to see about 8? or more windsurfers out there today, I had a lonley 2 hour session at Miami before heading down to the alley at about 12ish. 4 hours of windsurfing, needed my nanna nap this arvo!
