I'd recommend a 460. You could probably rig a sail from 6m up to 7.5m, giving you quite a large wind range, more time on the water in lighter winds, etc. I'm in a similar situation and use both my 6m and 7.5m which I rig on the one 460 mast. I go out in anything from 12 knots to 22 knots. I'm 80kg's and use a 126litre board. Hope that helps.

What size sails and boards

430 would be a better size for your wife (this is a guess based on her weight). If you are using sails from 4.7-6.5 sqm, a 430 would be best for you also. If you are both using sails from 6-7.5 sqm a 460 would be better.

2 second hand masts

I think you'd be better getting more of everything (second hand) as long as it is compatible and in reasonable condition. Gear between 3 and 5 years of age is cheap and will perform well. This way you and wifey will be covered for more conditions and can spend more time on the water and less time on the beach waiting!

I was getting at this also... Masts should be compatible with sails.

I've already got second hand 4.8 and 6.0 sails and I am thinking of getting a 5-5.5 sail, I also got 120 lts. board,but I just move to sydney and I don't know the wind conditions here. knots?./......I want to buy everything but this is not a cheap sport. So What do you reckon? a mast for Sydney's wind?

Sorry edleo2002 if I mislead you. I thought you where asking more so what mast, and therefore, what sail range you would be wanting for a intermediate surfer in average Sydney winds. To sail more often I'd go with the large sizes. Your probably better off asking a local, or getting advice at a local store.

Wave masts have a smaller diameter, and therefore a thicker wall section to achieve the same bend stiffness. The thicker wall section makes the mast stronger, but also a little heavier.

Generally, wave masts are fine in other sails, but with a slalom sail, I'm guessing you have cams, which probably need the right size mast to rotate around.
