Just been offered a f2 Axxis board 80 something litre for $100. Don't know anything else about the board yet. Is that a good buy?
I am a relative beginner weighing 67kgs and already have a JP Funride 140 litre. I thought I might put the Axxis away until I get good enough to use a smaller board one day. (I sail on Port Phillip Bay.) Good cheap buy or am I wasting my money????

go for it . if it is in good condition you cn't go wrong. anything different for the right price only adds to your experience, and could be perfect for special conditions.I've got an axxis 118 which I keep just for a change of style .Good luck and keep us posted on how it goes.

Hi, Waggles,
The specs of the board are printed behind the rear footpads and from your description, it appears to be an Axxis 261, 85 L volume, length 261 cm, width 56 cm. It was listed to carry a sail range of 3.6 to 6.6m. It used a Power Box fin.
This was the smallest of the Axxis range and was classed as 75% wave-oriented and 25% slalom oriented and is very similar to the concept of current Freestyle Wave designs. It had a long vee through the bottom of the board, which really helped when you wanted to gybe.
Suggest you have a good look at the deck anti-slip, because it has probably worn right down and the deck might be slippery. Not a big thing, as Oke Surfboards could easily apply a sugar deck.
Also suggest that you press hard with your finger tips all over the deck of the board, to see if the deck deflects, indicating water penetration of the foam core. I think I've seen these boards on sale for $200 - $300 and even if there is some water penetration, for your price of $100, its a good buy.
Might be a bit of a leap to go from 140 litres to 85 litres. My own experience was from 125 L (Bic Astro Rock) to 85 L (Bic Alto).
Hope this helps,
Regards,

great fun board and probably worth a hundred bucks. just dont expect it to last tooo long if you're jumping it as they are held together with staples.. I'm not joking.
