hello all
I'm after some advise and assistance on selecting board sizes for when I up grade my kit in the coming weeks.
I'm 90-95 kg, 6ft with 2 years sailing experience, can carve gybe, learning basic freestyle tricks looking to develope my wave skills.
I currently have an old school freeride 105 Litre(58.5 cm wide/ 274 cm length)and 150 L bic Techno boat.
My sail range and percentage of use are from 5.2m (15%)/5.8m (25%) SE ezzy wave/7.0m (30%) ezzy freeride/8.0 m (30%)no cam freeride - for NSW & QLD winds
I'm looking to travel Aus, for 3 months on a windsurfing/surfing holiday and want my kit to suit wave/freeride conditions from 10knots to 30 knots. I will be relocating to WA next year, where i will tune my kit selection again for higher winds, and wave sailing as my skills improve.
After all the information I want to select a freestyle wave board 95 - 110 litres for my medium-high wind board.
Should I go 102 Litre JPfreestyle wave or 107 Litre Board?
What would be next size down for a wave board for WA next year as my skills get better?
What size should my freeride board be 120 Litres or 130 Litres - JP x-citeride or other brand of similar sizes ?
Any info will be appricated. Thanks

My advice is to go for a slightly smaller wave board such as the JP Freestyle wave 101, and larger for the freeride eg. 130L that way you cover a bigger range, and will be great for WA as well. When thinking WA, even think about the JP RWW 92 litre, as this will be more manouvreable on a wave, and more suitable for WA conditions than the 101 or 107 litre. If you got the JP RWW 92 that would suit you and your weight for most WA stuff except the hardcore end of wavesailing. Given that, I would go for the JP 130 excite ride, to give you more range in the lighter side of things for NSW and QLD, and will suit light wind sailing in WA, and particularly the Estuary sailing, or light wind ocean days.

well if you want it to be a bumby jumpy and a wave board, you would want to get a board with sharp rails so you can use it nicly in the waves, bbut still a bit of volume, and width. and than you will need to look for a good sized rocker on it, some people would say to go for a new age, short and wide board, wich is fine, and they are fun, but in the higher wind days, i would think you would struggle and get exhausted to quickly, if you can carve gybe no problem and lets how you can water start, a board wich is around 85 to 90 liters would be good for you, than you would have all areas cover, (150ltr for light days with 8.5 sail/ 105 for 18 to 25 knotts, and than a 90 or 85ltre would be your smallest volume yo would need for your weight) but, and if your wanting to come to WA it gets some pretty crazy wind come through, and with the nice chill to it you use a smaller sail, but i personally wouldnt go for anything over 100 because of the boards you already have, but one good thing to do is go into your local shops, see if they have any demo boards avalible, and have a good run on a few different volumes,
hope that helps, dono if it makes any sence but i tried

Thanks all for the feed back,
Thanks for the feed back, I think I will go a 102 litre FSW for now, then expand to a 130 L freeride when the finances allow, in the comming weeks.
That should cove my requirements until I can get to WA, next year and look to expand to a 90 wave board.
Cheers,

Dude if you just want to wave sail on it go for a board the same as your weight, and in full wave, there are a few company's doing big wave boards now, also depends on where you sail, if it's more on-shore go something with a wider tail..

As a 95 kg sailor I have found somethign around 95 litres is perfect for Bump and Jump and waves and to progress on. If your already ok on the 105 then I suggest stepping down to about 95-97 litres
Tabou 3s 97 is an awesome alrounder that can be used in waves, freestyle or blasting. I would team that with a Rocket 125 that can carry up to about 8.5m but is most comfortable in the 6.5 to 7.5 m range.
