At 85kgs running a 5.3 in 15 ish kn seems a bit slugish, what size sail would suit and how much extra performance would I expect cheers ledgends.

He's learning so I think what he is doing is just fine.

Mort try to not be thinking about runnign before you can walk. Keep using the 5.3 in 10-15kn, one day it will be stronger and you will accidentally get planing then it is time to think about smaller boards and different sails

As a learner don't get hung up on planning yet.

For the record I weigh same as you and I would use a 7.5m on a 110L freeride up to 15kts. 15-18 6.5 and 100L. 18-22 5.3 and 92L.

Hey Jeff,I'm still using 4.7 its an old sail but seems to work ,I'm planing,not airborne yet in 18-20 kn,getting further back on the tail not quite in straps or hooked in ,just getting a feel for foot pressure and mast position my boards about 120l but its not specified I can up haul no probs but trying to get comfortable tacking,brought a 5.3 but can't get it on my old one piece mast,def looking for bigger rig but not rushing in,not ready to out lay big bucks yet,used gear is cheap just need to get it right,enjoying the progression can't wait to start boosting ramps haha.

Morgan, you'll know it when you get there. It happens when you have a harness on and for whatever reason your weight is too far forward, the sail just picks you up and throws you over the front of the board, hence the name.
