i am thinking of doing a wave clinic in Western Australia this year.

has anyone heard of wave clinics for advanced bump and jump sailers wanting to progress in the waves?

best spot?

best coach?

best time of year?

yep i'm with Mark on that.... i got a family that actually needs me around so distance is an issue. but never-the-less it does interest me

i used to be able to jump and land ok. hit some pretty cool waves south of the blowholes (c'von) when i lived that way but never hit the waves to surf/sail. actually i did ONCE.... got mashed at gnarloo

If you need to watch after your gramma, then you actually have a family

Do Cribby's Lancelin Freewave course.
Last 2 years has been in late January.
4 days of coaching including video review.
You won't regret it! I did it in 2013 and after years of stagnation (30 years windsurfing on and off) made really significant progress.
www.guycribb.com/
Search on seabreeze for videos and other reviews of this year's courses

or Simon Bornhoft also does a Lancelin course www.windwise.net/ usually December

Staying at the same location as people on your course with wave options makes it the best bet in WA.
Saying that, the wind in WA has not been as consistent over recent years and you could still get skunked at either time of year so be prepared for lots of drills or light wind practise if Huey doesn't play fair.

^^^^ +1

and with the wind, +100! Make sure if coming all this way for a week course, you stay an extra week at either end if at all possible - just to be safe.

Just go to Corro's in Geraldton anytime from beginning of Dec to end of Feb with a ice cold case of beer and look for a pro, they usually coach people for free beer.. I hear the forward loop lesson cost a six pack..

Lano is perfect for learning to wave sail. You can go around the wave to get out abd the wave isn't heavy, even on a big day. Stay away from Margs or Gnaraloo until you're a bit better!

Sorry - Lancelin
Margs and Gnaraloo are def not beginner spots and especially due to the fact you have to get back to where u started lest you find lots of reef. So any loss of wind or stuck on the inside and you're stuffed.
Esperance is a great spot because the breeze is offshore a bit at the main wave spot which makes the wave riding a bit easier but it can be really hollow and nasty - head hi waves can be lethal just cos they are so hollow and dumpy (at times.)
Plus no clinics run at any of them except for Lano!
(I didn't mention clinics as whilst I see them at Lano I have not down one so have nothing to input in a review sense)

After watching profitts video diary this seems to be the best bet. Invest in a camper van with fridge with around six cartons of beer, head up to Coronation Beach for two months and you will have the best windsurfing time in your life. I went up there in the summer of 97/98 and really liked it. The place was full of poms and Germans. From the diary things don't look like they have changed.

Soz, edited it. It was the summer of 97/98. It definitely was that summer as I left my job the following summer and went to uni. The West End Draught I bought in South Australia from our windsurfing trip down there down there has confused me.
