Hmmm, you say "don't". I'm led to believe that a qualified, and good-experienced marine electrician (or any 'specialist' trade) could earn a fair income.....income to spend on good windsurfing gear - and, once qualified, if you're a good enough tradesperson, negotiate working hours around leisure-time (windsurfing).
I, on the other hand, chose timber joinery....low pay, no 'on-call' rates, most of time spent in a shed surrounded by noisy/dusty machinery. On the upside, I enjoy what I do, meet good people, spend my time-off with family in a house we can
afford! and when the wind's up, straight to the water!
My advice for the 'young'uns', work hard to get a job you'll
enjoy, once you've got it, work
smart, and become
great at what you do (you'll enjoy it more.)
The other option is (if you're good enough), apply the above to windsurfing & get sponsored. Either way.....you have to
enjoy what you do & balance work/play, you don't want to look back in years from now and regret what you enjoy doing now - windsurfing, because it's caused you financial ruin - or, on the other hand - look over your share/property portfolio & realise that you've base your whole miserable life on increasing profits and not enjoying the ride.
