mate, can you not get transfered to WA??
I've never been to the sunshine state but seems that it's better for fishing than windsurfing!!!
you should come this way....

although we do have tree too here so still dangerous for the masts over here

well good luck anyway can't be too bad ...

Curac,

Been to both, WA is heaps better than Maui for windsurfing, except for May to Middle of Sept, When Maui rocks and is warm, whereas WA has cooled down. Then WA kicks arse from Exmouth, and North Carnarvon in Middle Sept, then as summer gets closer it rolls right through to Esperance, how many K's is that versus, what is it from memory, about 40kms of sailable coastline

However, Maui is very beautiful, lot's of fun, and there's probably no 40km stretch of coast with as Much variety in WA, Maui is special and worth a visit, but go when it's cold here!!!!!

Heya Mr Curac.

Sunshine coast is only 1.5 hour away.....how different do you think it's going to be? ;) Go move to Lancelin. No wind in WA, no wind anywhere.

well.. i live in bris so i have to drive to the coast.. so if i live right on the coast i will be able to sail everytime its windy, and i hear that the wind is more consistant than the gold coast.. don't want to live at brisbane coast thing cause i would like to sail in what apears to be clean water.

oh. i thought you were staying with Jezza.

Still I found that sunshine coast sailors said that gold coast was better, and visa versa. The grass is always greener.........

Ive stayed at noosa for a couple of weeks here and there and experienced the same lack of wind situation. I do like the rivermouth at caloundra. If I had to live on the sunshine coast, thats where I'd be, but golden beach is nothing to write home about. Aparently many years ago it was very good. Recently the sand has built up far too much. It is now like sailing in someones bath tub and somebody keeps pulling out the plug. I guess it would make you a good gyber!

If anything, living on the goldcoast means you are closer to the northern NSW beaches which generally have a better reputation for sailing, and easier to get to.

The Gold Coast has some cool spots, like the Train, Runaway bay and currumbin creek to sail. Plus Byron, Ballina and Yamba Down the road.

Anothr cools spot i have found is up Bundaberg way at Elliot Heads. Awsome little spot to sail. I ws spewin at easter when i was up there as i left my gear at home,Typical.

yeah golden beach looks good.. flat water to gather some speed then out through the mouth and into the ocean ..

well i will give the sunny coast a go. see how it is.. i have met a couple of good sailors.. well one i know is good.. but the other guys could just be talking out there ass and they say its not too bad,
i am looking for a place at golden beach somewhere close enough so i can rig up at home and walk it to the beach.. yeah that would be good..

skinny..
you like the train hey.. yeah its ok.. altough it does make me a little sleepy.. heheh.... .. .. .. ..

justan.. after i move to the coast and can go sailing everyday its possible.. i will have to come down the goldcoast and show you how to do some double forward loops.. right after i learn them.. i will also show you how to do wave 360, and wave 720s lol..

hopefully be down the gold coast on friday,, saturday, if the winds up are you going to go to the train or shearwater?? or someplace else.. if the wind is really up.. we should all go out in the surf someplace.. if i can drag jerry out there

Its not too bad, compared to some places i have sailed over on the west coast. I like ocean sailing with a bit of flat water blasting. Woodies point, north side was fantastic for this.

The sand banks are great when your lazy or have a shocker when gybing. i also sail up at Bayview some times. it is amazing it can be 15 knots down at the train and 20 a few ks up the road. Stange.
The sunny coast sounds like the go.

Hi Skinny.

I'm in the last of the shots from the Shearwater. I got the special high-speed haircut. If there is one of some bald guy with red and orange sail, that is me.

I think I remember seeing you at the train one time

Possible good wind this arvo, saturday and sunday. fingers crossed hey! Might see you at one of the spots. I'm in Ashmore today I so I probably go to the train, and go to shearwater on the weekend. The forecast has now changed to s/se.

Yeah, I have been over here for a few years now. I manage to go to WA every two to three years. Still have family and friends over there.
I now work 15 mins from the train,so come summer with the extended hours of daylight that summer provides, i will be out a bit for often that i usually am.

Hi G,

it is up towards runaway bay. It is the stretch of water between wavebreak island and crab island. Basically, if you head north from the train along the goldcoast hwy, keep right where it becomes Brisbane road. Stick along the water edge, go over lands-end bridge, turn right at the roundabout, then Oatland Avenue, Jennifer Avenue, and Lae Place are all roads on your right that take you down to the water from the that road you are now on. I personally prefer it there. Much cleaner wind, bigger chop. The current runs quick. Its best with a wind-against-tide day.

So also know as Bayview? Maybe a bit further down.

yah, thats the place. Bayview is right at wavebreak island north side. A little sheltered in the southerly but flatter water.
