Many thanks to those from the windsurfing community who posted their condolences, to me and mine, on this site after my hubby passed away suddenly on January 30. I very much appreciate your thoughts and and considerations. And I know it is a cliche when you hear the phrase that someone died doing what they loved but honestly you couldn't wish for a better passing (except in your sleep?). Of course I wished it could have happened in many years time as my other half was only 51 (but a very youthful 51) but he LOVED sailing at Yamba, it was his favourite sailing, camping and surfing spot. My hubby died instantly of a massive heart attack which was such a shock to discover later as he didn't smoke and had a healthy diet and active lifestyle although he was carrying a few extra kilo (that I nagged him about). The day was beautiful, sunny with clear waters and white sand although the wind wasn't strong just cruisy just a lovely summers afternoon.
Would like to thank again the windsurfing comunity at Yamba, what a great bunch of guys, those of you who helped me with cpr, transport, and personal support (especially Mark and Helmut) I will never forget your special efforts. Also like to thank Ducati, Hooray and The Child Bride, Sue and Ash Wooley, Pommy Dave, Geoff from Burrum and Jason Golding for all their support and encouragement to get me back out on the water again!!
I met you and your partner when sailing there earlier in the year. I was very sorry to hear about your loss, I am though, very happy to hear that you are back on the water. I'm sure your partner will have smile on his face knowing you are still sailing.
Thanks DavMen, Have to admit the shine has gone out of the sport for me especially the first time I had to adjust the footstraps on one of our shared boards. I was so lucky to have a partner who I could share my passion for sailboarding with (I created a monster when I introduced him to the sport). I so miss our after sailing stories over a bottle of red and as I sign of my desperation have been considering "crossing over to the dark side"! That's right KITE SURFING, even had a few basic lessons (thanks Jason @ wind'n'water).
Hang in there kitcat, you sound like your made of pretty tough stuff and I am sure your mate would have said. "Now go and get the Lars soap and wash your mouth out, and write one hunnet times, I never will say that dark side word again" Mineral
Thanks Guys, Not really made of tough stuff , just feel that I have to live life for the both of us now! Have made a list of ten things to try before I die One of them is to come over to WA and sail (and kite?) and swim with the whale sharks! We have to grab every chance to experience life never knowing when it may be unfairly taken from you. I will write "one hunnert times" in blood, sweat or tears? Mineral1? "I will sail every oppurtunity, I will drink red wine, I will find things to laugh at and I will let the dogs and cats sleep on the bed!"
As the saying goes, you'll do girlie, you'll do And in sweat only unless of course you fell off lately and got wet. Tears if you need too, we wont say nuffink, unless of course we catch you on a kite And plan for a long stay if you come over, you wont want to rush on back
