My lovely lady gave me a new(to me) Angulo Sumo 105 board. Yesterday it had its first run at Pelican Point, and it was fantastic!

I was stepping down from a GO 150, and had tried a few runs on a Bombora Zot. A few people had recommended a 130 litre board next. I am still getting the hang of waterstarts and not slick in turns. But after a bit of skittish behaviour I got her up and away, and it was a total blast! I succeeded in a couple of tacks and a gybe without having to uphaul, and got some very watery starts to work too.

It rockets along compared with the old barge, and doesn't sink like the Zot, and felt very lively, both controllable and flexible. This is going to be the board I learn to carve gybe on!

Hey Chrisper, funny thing is that when you get used to a smaller board, it sails smoother, gybes easier and a hell of a lot better jumping.

Yep does come with two fins. I bought one about 2 months ago, went from nano 125. Even that was a big difference. I am finding i spin out a lot more than my old board. Was thinking maybe trying another fin?

I am awestruck. ChrisPer you must have the secret to mind control. She didn't just say "Take the board, go sailing and leave me alone" did she? Or perhaps she is loaded and showering largesse everywhere. Or have you persuaded her that you are some kind of demi-god?

Please, what is your secret. I know Gesty is aching to know.

Only lots of roses over many years can do it...

And she does expect me to use it... wow, yesterday was a blast. I pulled down my 5.5 and put up a 4.0, and the wind was strong enough to waterstart! I had never been so fast.

But the last man into the water put up a 6.8 and casually blasted from Peli beach to Outer Dolphin in about 10 seconds - very impressive.

Now how to forget the face plant at top speed?
