Can you sail anywhere at Margies in a NW - W like a typical front?
I imagine the day after in a SW is OK but probably like double mast.
Maayyyybe have opportunity to move there but concerned about no sailing for 7-8 months of the year and then not quite as good seabreezes in summer

Also anyone sailed Augusta in seabreeze or fronts? I guess the sandbank about 200 - 500m off the river mouth looks like Pozo sometimes.....

One consolation is you are only 2 hours from mandurah at MR, so ask yourself "are you someone that loves to drive distances?", Don't know much about MR climate, but have worked there a lot including winter, and NWers are very on-shore and dangerous, no-one out.

Mark regarding your questions. Margies is good later in the seabreeze season though had a great time there in october last year. Augusta is CRAP unless you want to change to the dark side. The sand bank is very high and creates a wind shadow directly behind it. Also very few waves and a lot of current coming through the river mouth.
There are places to sail in NW-W close by, but nothing radical. Least you are closer to civilisation in Margies compared to being a long way in Esp..... but all depends on how much sailing in winter you get down your way too. If you surf Margies area rocks too

Rooster yeah thats why I asked: we gate as much wavesailing in winter as we want..... lots of cross shore places in a westerly or northwesterly. So bit worried if I moved to the SW I'd only get summer.... and maybe a shorter one at that.

Maybe hang out for job Leeman / Lancelin / Dongara as thye may be a goer sometime

Hey Scotty
So South Point is sailable in a Northerly? NW? Westerly?
Where else do you sail in winter?
Injidup? Yallingup?
What about Windmills or Other Side Of The Moon on a Northerly?
Is the Farm cross shore on a NW?
I heard you were up our way on sunday at Crystals

Looks like it was wsw down south to day so anything with a bit of south should be the go.

Greeny if you sailed south point in a nw you would end up in the dunes

I thought a SW would be too protected?
In a NW you could launch from the beach in front of North Point?
Sail out to South Point, gybe then ride the waves backhand down the point through to hussars? or gybe out the back of hassars and ride the wave into the bay?
Does this make sense?
Im only guessing???

Yep. WSW it was and is the go.
Little gusty right on the inside at the end of the wave, but this is what makes it lovely and clean.
NW is kind of straight on and craptacular

i've sailed gracetown from northerlies right through to south westers. on a decent swell it can be pretty sick jumping, onshore waveriding. probably your best bet in a w / wnw (that i know of, except maybs dunsbourough but is kinda lame).

have done grunters and margies bombie (scary) in northerly's.

have seen scott sailing southsides in a northerly- looks sick, but no key hole to get back in so watch your board???

have tried augusta but was fairly crap.

never tried it but indjinup has sick potential!

all n all good fun in winter...

Sailed Southies two days ago. Big and gnarly and very crossoff.

Lots of good sailing to get into down here in wintertime.

By the way I'm selling some off my sails cheap! See adverts.

That'd be the wrong way wouldn't it?? you'd be going up the line.
I'd like to try it in a NE. Think this has been posted before under "sailing in an easterly" I'll do a search, back in a tick.
