I've just spent a couple of days with a welder and angle grinder lengthening the drawbar on by windsurfing trailer. It wasn't essential. It won't contribute to more TOW or better quality TOW. It was simple a task that gave me more convenience when I do finally go windsurfing again. The trailer is now more stable, has a jockey wheel, allows the tailgate on the car to be opened without detaching the trailer, and now features a lockable coupling hitch.

Got me thinking....Does anybody else get this sort of disease during those long winters months of cold weather and poor wind? The disease of tinkering, undertaking non essential, trivial tasks just to be close to your beloved windsurfing gear, smelling the dried salt, hearing the occasional crackly of monofilm, catching a fleeting glance of those seductive fins.....I've caught myself doing this before - fine tuning adjustable outhauls that already worked, smoothing off some rough spots on an already smooth fin, lovingly replacing O rings in board vents just in case.....

PLEASE TELL ME I AM NOT THE ONLY WINSURFER SUFFERING THIS MIDWINTER AFFLICTION....AAAARRRGGGHHHHH

nope, it's not just you.

normally i don't attend to the gear as i sail all year round but this year hasn't been good so i have started tinkering also.

usually over winter i find myself sketching up boards working on graphics and dreaming....

I make beach/windsurfing themed artwork. Keeps that connection with the water and the sport I love.

In the winter, I tinker with the missus.
Trying to get enough credit points to get my fill in the summer.

I bought an old dump of a house near Sydney for a reasonable price. Its great redeeming factors are its on a fairly big block of land, it close to a train station and has great water views. Spent the last two windless months with my dad and plenty of cash renovating, building a nice flat underneath. So now we can rent it out for more than the mortgage repayments.

The way people are moving to Sydney there is a massive demand for rentals.
