Anybody know anything about it?

In particular, April, May, June...I've spent the last few hours searching the internet, and I spoke to a few Japanese windsurfers today.
Trying to find a place with steady winds during those months, and a club to store my gear at...THEN see if there's any jobs going...

But maybe Taiwan is the go. Check this out, a chart showing the "number of windy days when a 70kg windsurfer could plane for at least two hours with a waveboard using sails up to 5.0".

I recall some windsurfing being had on the North side of Tokyo Bay, near Kisarazu back in the 90s. Not many of the city port areas look enticing tho.

Hey, I went for a holiday in Japan a couple of months ago. Windsurfing is pretty popular there, id say more so than in Australia judging by numbers on the water, although maybe thats more a population density thing. Anyway, i sailed in a harbour/port at place called Nishinomiya, which is really just on the outskirts of Osaka. There were (atleast) 2 clubs side by side with a great set up right by the waters edge where everyone stores their gear, has showers and change rooms, nice fake grass rigging areas etc etc. And super friendly people. I hired some modern freeride gear for a couple of hours for something like 20AUD! There are quite a few of these clubhouse type setups around I noticed, just a matter of finding them.

Hi all from Japan
April, May, June: Long sleeves wet suit(June is not need Log sleeves).
Spot: Syonan(Hayama.kamakura,Enoshima):
Wind : April is NE/MW and good time to sail.(5.X-7.5)
May and June : Wind is going down.(7.5 or more big sail)

Spot : Kisarazu, Futtu(Noth of Tokyo Bey)
Wind is same as above.but little bit better then Syonan.

A club or Shop:
Syonan has lot of clubs and shops, you can rental.
Kisarazu is nothing. So you take all board and rig by the car.

From Tokyo to Shonan:
It take about 2H or so from Tokyo by train.
I drive to my spot by car about 1H.and my club is not only windsurfer.
(include one hand or 2 hand yacht and shower and change of clothes room.)
Every club ,It is less than 100m to the beach.

My Spot(Morito / Hayama)

Hey B14, thanks!!

Sounds ok!!

If I bring my 6.9 and my 8.5 will that be ok? I'm 87kg.

If I bring my own sails, can I rent only a board? How much does it cost, on average - or are there cheap 2nd hand boards available??

Hi
You are right. When a foreign person goes directly, it follows that it is not so good.
So The help of the local windsurfer will be necessary.

that why I said Case1 ,2 and 3.
The temporary use is possible my friend shop.I already talk to them.
Also I have 2 contact points ,Kamakura shop and Miura shop.

Hi Yoshio,

I have been following the thread here, and am interested in some more information.
The maps you linked us to are in Japanese.
Am i right in understanding that your windsurfing spot is near Hiratsuka?

Every month I am in Hiratsuka for a few days of work. I had asked around and nobody new where to send me for sailing. So i just grab a mal and go longboard surfing on my rare time off.
(in very small waves)

I normally take the shonan/shinjuku line for Hiratsuka via fujisawa and chigeseki. Is this close to your sailing spot?

Also,,,, I'm VERY!!! keen to know about formula class in Japan. Do you know any formula sailors in your area? Is it popular? Can you help me get in touch with any formula clubs or associations?

Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Windsurfing in Taiwan is great!

Several good wave/flat water spots, some have gears rental and Homestay everywhere. Southwesterly in Summer and Northeasterly in Winter contribute more than 200 windy days an year in average.

You may find some introduction in:
