Following on from a thread a few weeks ago about some 60yr old guy doing a forward loop I was wondering what age is the oldest windsurfer in Aust or your state?

I'm 42 and I know I'm not the oldest!

I feel 95yo when I get up in the morning. Does that count?

I think I remember scurvy was still making headlines when I started windsurfing...

Thats who I was gonna mention Spot.
Ben looks like he should be in a nursing home when on land but on the water his inner youth comes out.

Jerry on the Goldy is up there age wise and goes bloody hard!

Then there is Cliffy, these 2 guys are inspirational for any young punk, both of them will hit the water when the wind is up around 30 knots plus, unreal to see, go hard lads!

Can anyone enlighten me on ages of these 2?

What about the "Captain" Ted Delaney, he's 84 I think & still comes up to Cervantes for the Speed Week.
I've also seen him out sailing on the reef.
Absolute legend & one of the nicest guys you could ever meet

That's encouraging, but how long does it take to learn to do a vulcan?

That's why windwarning is so attracted to your boyish charm.

one time at band camp......

no no , when down at Longreef one time buying some gear, Sam pointed out a fellow shopper...a bloke I think he said was over 90 years old,
he sailed a starboard start or go, and was i think buying some new rig.

now if i havent got his age wrong I cant imagine if there is anyone older., although he may not be resident on this forum.

You only ask this question, and only stir interest because you and others want to know how long you can keep doing it this hedonistic activity.

As an apprentice on a steam ship we had this Massive 2 metre Scottish bosun, who had the strength of 3 of us kids. He was over eighty years old, and we wanted to find the end of the worlds second best sport.
"How old do you have to be before you stop wanking Bose?" one of my mates asked
"Occhch" came the reply "Yeull have to ask an older man then me!"
Reassured that we had many years of Fun, I forgot the topic till now.

A better question might be,"for how many years have you been windsurfing"? I might claim a corner of this, tried my first windsufer in 1975, bought my first board in 1976 (I still have the teak wishbone)....34 years of sailing at 100 sails a year (120 this year after retirement) each sail at 2 hours perhaps. 6,800 hours of magic...its a great life

Hey, This thread mentions fellas in 80s and 90s. I am a long way from that and Lyn is a lot younger than me. Hey JP747 I wouldn't call 72 yrs in late 70s.

Just hope I get there.

Nah, pretty sure it was over the rainbow, where the bluebirds used to fly!!

...... Hang on, maybe the rainbow was over the white cliffs of Dover???
..... Now I'm starting to piece it together.

Henry sails at Goolwa SA most weeks a few times as least, if the wind will blow.
he don't like to hear it but he started windsurfing in 1984, he is now 81, was a regular in the raceboard class before that died, now he rides a 100L F2. and loves to sail.
he has a computer now and reads some of the forum so be nice.

Hee Hee.. yes pretty little bluebirds did fly over the rainbow...

but there'll be bluebirds over the White Cliffs of Dover...trust me.....

maybe they got high on rainbow juice, and they were filppin' out over the cliffs of Dover [thats why the cliffs looked white,].
I dont think they were in Kansas anymore, Toto.
