Hi,
I am in the market for a new board.
Initially looking at the exocet board Scross 120litre, which is still in the running but,
But Know I have narrowed the choice between two boards.
The first is the Tabou 125 Rocket nice board.
The second choice the Fanatic Eagle 126 board.
If any body does ride any of these boards let me know what are your thoughts are, it will help me in the quest for me to decide in the final purchase choice.
So all your comments will help, Thanks.
Kind Regards
Walt.

Hi Walt, how about you tell us what you want out of your new board, where you will be sailing it, what level you're at, what conditions you expect to be taking it out in etc and we'll be able to give you better advice.
Of course they are all good boards from reputable companies but each will have its peculiarities and leanings towards a different style of sailing.

I had the 114 Eagle and found it excellent. I only got rid of it as i needed something slightly larger and got a great deal on an SX Large. This board handled the chop around Manly and Wello fantasticly and is quite quick in a straight line. I used to surprise a few people on traditional slalom gear.
I think you would find the Eagle a very easy to use quick board for light to medium conditions.

Walt, these boards were all tested in Windsurf at the end of last year and I think these sizes as well.
Off the top of my head:
Fanatic Eagle was the slowest and easiest to ride suiting an intermediate but not offering as much for the advanced sailor.
The Exocet was the most race like, offering loads of performance, the experts liked it as it could be pushed really hard and it gave loads of feedback.
The Tabou was one of the faster boards (not as fast as the Exocet) but it was also easy to ride - so it offered great performance for all levels.
I can dig out the report and give some more info but i don't have much time this week...

Starboard distributor here..
This board toppped the German test recently in the category you are looking at - for the review go here:

If you are looking for a more freeridey option the Carve 122 has an insane test result coming out soon but i cant tell you about it as the mag in questionhas not been published yet... one of the best results a STarboard has ever had in a test - and they have had lots of good ones over the years. A quick search on the Carve range will reveal some pretty good feedback.
Good luck on your search . .whatever your decision.
one thing is for sure - there is a lot of quality available in the Windsurfng market right now.

Hi Leech,
Well I sail at Botany Bay winds are around 20-25knots gust up to 30knots there is chop wiped up and the sailing I want out of the board is the ease of riding and control, not concerned at top end speed so to be able to sail even at 10 to 15 knots on those relaxed days so thats why I am looking at the 125 Volumne.
Thanks for your comments

Walt, Don't know if it will be much help, but you can try my 105 Rocket out if you like. I'm down at Botany Bay about twice a week, and will be out on the Tabou, or a 78 JP FSW (but will have the Rocket in my car). If you can't find me, ask any of the regulars to point me out. (Harrow or Paul.)
The 105 is my light wind board. I find it just keeps on planing forever in the lulls and loves to be driven on the back foot.

Harrow.

I sail at Botany when it's windy and flat elsewhere. just look out for someone with gun sails and that's mor than likely going to be me!
If I remember i'll travel everywhere with the magazine incase I bump into you! Won't be there this week though...
If you live anywhere near the northern beaches or work in the city then i can personally give you the mag!
