Kurnell or rose bay if its got any north in it adn la perouse if its got a little south. Best spots around here. You on the north or south side?

Live in Balmain so have good access to south side throught he tunnels. Are their good rigging areas at Kurnell and Rose Bay. Looks like a bit of a NW theme this Sun onwards

Kurnell has plenty of grass rigging. It helps to keep an eye on the forecast though. If it's going to swing around to the W and you want to relocate to La Perouse get ready for 45 minute drive.

In a strong NW on an incoming tide you can get some real nice ramps down at Kurnell. The main problem with NW though is that it is usually very gusty and the wind can sometime completely die in off within a matter of minutes. I have seen it go from 40 knts. to nothing in less than 10 minutes only to go back to a solid 40 just 10 minutes later.

As Dan said, Rosebay is also sailable in a NWer. Not that great in my opinion and parking is always a pain.

La Perouse works best if the wind is W to SW. I have sailed in a NW and SSW direction. In SSW it you tend to get a lot of criss cross chop and a NW while offering super flat water is super gusty. If you are a dare devil you can always rig in La Perouse and sail over to Kurnell. If you do it make sure you have someone with you, check for the tide direction and watch for those big container ships.

The thing I like about Westerlies is that they can be good in many places in Sydney Harbour, unlike the sea breezes. Rodd Point is usually good in a westerly and about 4Km from Balmain.

Rodd Point - very short runs in a true westerly - yucky at low tide - booties a must.

Personally - I'd stay out of Iron Cove at the moment with all that rain.

Actually this Sunday looks like there'll be a lot of North in it - not real good at Rodd Point. Make the Trek to Kurnell.

Fair call DavMen. I've got a foot infection there after a lot of rain in the past (without booties obviously). It does have short runs, but for me that's better for gybing practice.
