I just realised I may be contravening forum or other rules by posting pics without the the subjects permission. I didn't see anything in the guidelines.

Is there a policy?? Given I'm all enthused with my new camera and my favourite sport I'll be taking lot's of snaps.

If anyone has an objection to being photographed please let me know......if you're on the forum that is.

typically,

you don't need permission unless you are using the images for commercial purposes.

i generally ask though to be polite and always ask if it kids in the photos.

also local council regulations may be relevant. ie. you can't take photos of the sydney harbour shoreline. (apparently)

that's the short of it. probably more than you need to know. I recently dug up the regulations due to some images we were putting together at work for a billboard.

Yeap, for adults you are fine as Justin said.

However, for a person under 18 years of age, you need to get consent from the parent and student approval if want to take photographs of them.

You legally have to get an additional approval form if you are going to put them online, and stating where you are putting them, what use they will be, and also what risk there is for other people to access them (I.e. private website vs. public one).

A portion of my letter to parents is the following. The first for photographs, the second for online approval:

I, ______________________, do hereby allow photographs, video, audio and work samples of __________________________, to be taken for the purpose of constructing a folio for Elizabeth ****. I understand that all information collected will be kept strictly confidential, and only used for the construction of Elizabeth ****’s folio and interview with Education Queensland and/or Independent Schooling Association. I understand that all recording and samples taken will be securely destroyed after 12 months.

I am honoured to be chosen as an Intern at ******* ***** ****** and, I’m excited about the opportunity to get to know you. I’m looking forward to a happy and productive term during which I hope to enrich your child’s education through the use of interactive learning strategies, that not only prepares students for today’s society, but also enhances their development and helps to prepare them for the transition into Year 8. I’m really looking forward to the Year 7 camp to Harry’s Hut, assisting students in developing their Farewell Folder/ Book, and to being their teacher across all Key Learning Areas.

I am aware that having the opportunity to teach your child is a privilege, as well as a tremendous responsibility and I intend to do my very best to ensure that each student has a motivating and productive learning experience. To keep you informed about what is happening in the 7T classroom, I have created a private blog that contains:

• Information about myself,
• Photographs from my 4 week Practicum,
• Information, unit overviews and worksheets of the units I am teaching,
• Dates their assignments need to be completed by and their Homework grid,
• Photographs from my Griffith Education Internship,
• Overall feedback on 7Ts engagement and interaction with me during this time and
• A place for you to ask me questions, engage with your child’s learning and for your children to look at the work they have done with me.

The website can be found at www.miss****.com However, since the blog contains photographs, lesson plans and other information about our classroom, access has been restricted to parents and is by invitation only. If you would like to access this blog please provide me with an e-mail address.

Hi Liz,

i don't believe there is any difference between people under 18 or over 18 as far as legal responsibilities go for "street photography".

for a school you would need to get permission from the school principle as it is private property and private property will see this required.

here is the gov info that suggests further steps as per liz's post. they are not required though.

p.s. "i am not a lawyer or expert"

i reckon don't post anything you wouldn't post of yourself though that might not be the greatest guide to follow

but if you want to post females sailing nude, that's fine by me

Thanks. It is a great spot because the wind is quite clean, very little obstruction coming over the runway, usually 5-10kts windier then other spots. The noise depends on the direction they're taking off, most of the time they seem to be taxiing there. To be honest I cant remember hearing much when I'm near the runway as I'm either concentrating on a gybe or bearing away for the speed run parallel to the runway...so a little distracted.
