Twenty seven with the GPS. Gotta improve so one of my goals for 2009 is to get to exceed thirty. Why not join a GPS Challenge team lalalamort?

The Punters are getting active in 2009 and are changing our name to something mean and keen. We need more members as there are three of us posting right now. We need around eight regular sailors to achieve better results for the team section so your results would help.

Like Mobydisc, my top speed is 27 and I want to break 30 in the next couple of months.
I have found that being a part of GTC has helped my sailing enormously. The tips I get from the other guys on my team are priceless. There is nothing like a little bit of competition to 'push' you to that next level

Sunday starting around lunchtime looks ok. I think I may go to Pt Henry as the Lake is still a bit weedy for me.

Every now and again we request a track from various sailors, and try to figure out what's gone on if there is a difference between what we think the results should be, and what they've posted.

Every time there has been a discrepancy it's because the sailor has made an honest mistake

After you've been on the site for a while you get a feeling for what others can do, and what looks like a mistake. If someone claims an unreasonable speed then I'll get heaps of emails asking me to verify that track.

The main point of the challenge is to improve your sailing. Inflating your scores doesn't help anyone, it just leaves a hollow feeling inside, and if we catch someone cheating then we'll penalise the whole team (so you might well end up getting kicked out of your team!).

In the end if you cheat, the only person you're fooling is yourself...

What's everyone's 'wipe out' top speed, I managed to exceed 30 knots a few days ago, I think that this is my wipe out PB. It was a surprisingly good landing, even though my neck felt a bit whiplashed.

Found this big welt across my stomach yesterday, thought I'd caught an exotic disease. But to my relief it's now turning blue and it's the exact shape and size of my harness bar.

my top wipe out speed is the same as my top speed

I fidn the worst wipe outs are at the end of a session when im tired and not even going fast and i jsut lose balance and get pulled down on the boom

38 knots... not as quick as I will get when the planets come into line with the wind strength, angle and tide.

Which is what sets a really good sailor like vando apart, give him the wind he will go fast irregardless of water state

Yer more the point of qld's crap wind conditions, we have good areas providing flat water but rarely wind strong enough or at the right angle for alot of sailors here to meet their top speed potential. I suppose it is like that everywhere though.
