Nebian has moved and is now riding Ezzy (soooo WA - next he'll be Serverne and SSD)

Racism & kiteism is so last week.
All people should be pre-judged based on the equipment they sail...

Tushingham = You exclusively sail Scarborough shorebreak and/or have just moved out from the UK.

SSD / Delta = You support the local guy but on holiday you travel north or south respectively

North = You wear socks and sandels or have been influenced by someone wearing socks and sandels (guilty)

Pryde = You work in Oil & Gas

HotSails = You've met Jordo

Simmer = You read international reviews and go out of your way to import what you want.

3 Sails and 3 different brands = Your a tight arse who seaks out bargains (guilty)

Hybrid = You were born on Sydney's North Shore and you'll happily die there.

Starboard Acid = You visit Lancelin 3 years agos, loved the fashionable red and still wear leather puma sneakers.

Pryde - You like safe choices, have more money than sense (and you always wear Levi jeans and Reebok sneakers and Crocodlie shirts?)

Ezzy - Too cool for school, and you acknowledge that you sail hard and wipe out a lot

Hot Sails - You're radical yet oldschool at heart, and wish to God you lived on Maui

Starboard - Ditto for Pryde; afraid to try something different

JP - either you are a good wavesailor or you wanna be one (nothing wrong with that!)

Maui Sails - You just like anything with the word "Maui" in it

Sailworks - Looks are everything to you. Performance? What's that?

Old, old, old boards, usually bought for less than $100 - you are just like me

I sail Ezzy now, don't sail hard and wipe out or live in WA, though maybe I am a little bit different.

I have been on KA but I am not unhappy or angry (although maybe I would be if I still sailed them)

I have also been NP, I try to be %100 Aussie but I have never sailed Severne, I didn't think any sails were made here.

Sails anything you can get your hands on to stay in the waves . Not concerned with brand names or fashion. All gear is expendible = Soul sailer

Oh except for J.P. and N.P. Wouldn't be seen dead on that stuff

I am defently a number 7. Theres nothing wrong with hunting the bargains. I can't afford the brand new gear or all in one brand lol. We actually have 4 boards and 4 sails between us and they include 6 different brands. Then masts and booms are the same sort of thing. 4 booms and 3 brands and masts, the best of all is 4 masts with 2 brands.

I've got great value for money i'm telling you. That way i can afford mast, boom, uni joint for wach sail and what not. I'm happy to live with a tightass name lol.

Cheers

It's probably our best mast and brand new would have been bloody expensive. Got it for free aswell from a guy who just didn't want it anymore. He went sailing with a mate when they were a bit to full i think and they just wacked them together and got them 3/4 down and couldn't get it apart or completely together. Don't know where the other mast went with the right parts.)

I am number 7 too. However I have decided to bide my time and only get Neil Pryde gear. So I know what I want and I wait till I see it and then I buy it. I was never a Pryde sailor before. However my first new sail purchase was a NP slalom rig. That sort of makes me keep buying NP slalom gear. I have Sailworks wave sails, Revo 5 and 4.4. Given the **** wind in Sydney I never use them. I reckon Neil Pryde makes the best racing sails so why not buy them? Not sure about their wave stuff, there I reckon Sailworks is good.

Anyway I have a Tabou board. What does that mean? Personally I believe it shows I have style and class.

In my quiver....
Kinetic, SSD, Severne & KA.

Never really thought about it, but I guess that means I support the Oz product. OK most of it is made O/S, but the design and R&D comes from Oz.

And generally speaking it's good value for money.

Pointman, have two Severne sails, freeride stuff. Do you find that the boom needs to site near the top of the cut out, compared to the other sails you have?

Mineral, I'm fairly tall and tend to rig all my sails at the of top the boom cut-out. Hadn't particulary noticed if the Severne sails I have rig differently.

I did read in another thread a post by Ben Severne saying that the trend was for longer harness lines and hence he was designing sails with higher cut-outs. What year are yours?

Sorry for the slow reply Windy,

If you travel north in WA coast you stop in Geraldton and invariable end up wanting/buying the art work that is an SSD board. (Nebbian admitted as much)

If you travel South you end up in Pad Redman territory.

These reputations are gold!
I would love someone associated with a brand to explain its reputation.
Like the Delta's have a wide tail, particularly under the front foot.
Is this because they anticipate sailors schlogging out at Margaret River,
were Stoney makes some pretty tiny machines - but then again he does not have a problem with lack of wind.

How does a brand's origin influence their designs?
