I need to bail work early on Thursday or Friday for a reason that we all know...
I have used most of the excuses but need some new ones.

I agree, honesty is the best policy.

Inform your boss of the advantages of happy, healthy, active employees and that by allowing you recreational time to pursue your interests, your subsequent work will most likely reap the benefits. Quote some psychological research and mention stress to further back up your point and shazam, one afternoon off windsurfing, maybe even two!!

If this doesn't work... bribery, extortion, begging.. the possibilities are endless
