I went to New Caledonia in May a couple of years ago. Not alot of wind when I was there. Most windsurfers sail at Anse Vata just south of city - mainly flat water sailing inside the lagoon. New Caledonia has one of the largest lagoons & second largest barrier reef in the world. There was a windsurfing shop at Anse Vata and you could hire a large board at the beach - no small gear. I'm sure there would be good wave sailing out on the reef but don't know how you would get out there. Saw one lone kitesurfer up north. Food & accomodation is expensive because of French expats.

G'day,

Have a look at: http://www.kitecruise.com/index2.php

Windy season is October to May and not very strong or consistent other times.

You can take windsurf gear on the boat of the website - great vacation - had excellent surf, diving, fishing, and even some decent wind even at the beginning of October.

Noumea itself is not so beautiful, but get out on the reef, and it's as good as Tahiti without the crowds.

Good Luck!
