There are guys who make the trip over there to wavesail occasionally. Shellys sounds like the pick of the breaks but it is pretty fickle, the bar-way at Ansons has been sailed at times too. Probably the beach near Swannick might offer the best gentle introduction but even the most protected beaches have gear destroying days.

Most of the Tassi wavesailors cover a lot of miles ( by Tassi standards) to get good conditions. The Hobart crew sail Bakers and Marrawah pretty regularly, the guys around Launi probably do less miles,we must love that onshore mush.

The nationals are on at Marrawah this Feb, an awesome opportunity to see and share waves with some of Australia's best and least best wavesailors.Rumour has it that we might see Ben Severne and maybe Jaeger Stone this year. I myself will be there smacking the lip with all the authority of a pillow fight with Gwenith Paltrow.

Despite its reputation for epic surf Marrawah has some great days for learning wavesailing. Small days at Greens Beech can have a great combo of a broadly spaced swell and almost no shore break.

Heya guys. I'm in tassie till about april and based in Burnie. Any hints on some places to sail around that area? Wave sailing is out for the moment as my 86ltr acid had a bitumen accident on the way over (anyone repair boards in tas? minor tail damage) my other board is a 116ltr F2 stoke. I've done a little net research and port Sorrell and Stanly seem like the go. Any other tips on the north coast and any sailors up this way?

Cheers easty! yep it looks that way! Hope my 3/2 steamer is warm enough. Went for a swim yesty at boat harbour and had a brain freeze headache for the first 5mins!!!
