Hey guys,

i'm after some wave board advice. i've got a jp 69l rad wave and was thinking of getting a second hand wave board to cover the lighter conditions. i weigh 72kg and would be using it mainly with a 5.2 but might look at getting a 5.7 maybe. would be using it mainly south coast nsw ie Wanda, Gerroa etc.

Any advice as to size, brands etc would be greatly appreciated.

Yeah I have Evo 70 and 80 and the 80 is a great light wind wave board. I changed from JPs and couldnt be happier!

have a look at width! I am the same weight and my light wind board it 56cm wide - a Quatro Freestyle Wave, a little flatter in rocker and easier to "get around the park" to pick up waves

The board I was on is a custom wave jumping machine, 125 litres (I think!), double carbon sandwich, a bit heavy but bulletproof. It was built for Hardie to slash and jump at Corros in light winds. I'm 85 kilos and this combo was perfect for the early sesh on that particular day... when the wind picked up I used my 80 litre Acid, but then jumped back on the custom when the wind dropped off a bit.

Not sure what an equivalent board would be, you certainly can't buy this board anywhere for love nor money. I think that lots more people would enjoy themselves in the waves if they had a bit more flotation for lighter days, instead of grumbling on the beach as soon as the wind dropped to just under 15 knots... anyway who cares, more waves for me
